Hey all,
Well I was able to get a piston and sleeve. I had a race this past weekend and was to talk to the storre owner. He had a LRP on the side opened that he pulled the pullstart off of. He gave me the piston and sleeve. I still having been trying to find them online but It hard to find...
Hey all,
After a grueling weekend of racing, I am looking into rebuilding my Spec 3. I looked around to see who carries piston and sleeves but no one does. What does bother me is that Tower state the Piston & Sleeve set is discontinued. I couldn't even find the parts on the LRP site. I have...
Senitro,
Yes the pipe does fit tight. To help prevent the pipe from running to much I used a heat guns the handle of a glow plug wrench to make a pocket in the side of the body. I didnt need much to allow better fitment. Check out the 4th picture down with the body on. You can see the dimple...
Blazer,
Yes those are FLM shock towers but I cut .25" off of the top of the to lower te mounting of the body. The LST shock set up I helped you with worked great last year but am trying something new. I used the rear shocks for an losi 8t on all four corners of the savage. If this setup...
Hey all,
Sorry I havne't post the build up lately but i have been tied up the development of the truck and work lately. Here are some of the final build up picks. I will post later all the I parts I used after the 18th. Currently getting the truck dialed in for Rc Madness' North East Offroad...
Blazer,
I am agreeing with larsen,
HPI's Savage X chassis is 5mm (6.35mm = .25 in) lower than the .21 & .25 stock chassis
HPI's LCG chassis is 12mm lower that the .21 & .25 chassis plates.
Platium Rc Products (Larsen's) if i am correct are .500 lower compared to .21 & .25 chassis...
Hopit,
Losi runs JR stlye connectors since most of their kits come with JR servos and plugs, try a female JR connector. Another option is to do as I did, swith your plug for deans.
Chris
My shop used to support the savage heavily, but lately it has been transitioning to more support for Losi 8 & 8t, Revo's, Associated 8. Since the shop has a track and host offroad racing, he doesn't see many savages around except for our racers. Pretty much my teammates are the only customers...
Ntecn1,
Acutally I wont be creating a balancing problem. If I had both parts turned individualy this I would see a problem since I don't have a datum surface to work from. The couter sink hole in the ring gear actually locate the ring to the alloy cup.Trying to pick up axis of the bolt cirlce...
Hey guys,
I am having my diff cups assembly turned so I can use an 8mm x 16mm bearing instead of the 10mm x 16mm. While cleaning I noticed some wear marks on the HPI alloy cup. After everything was cleaned and dried, I went and took a new bearing (10mm x 16mm) from my roomate fresh shipment...
With not having to work and the weather being crappy I thought it would a great time to stat mocking up the savage. The first thing to do was upgrade the mid tank plate. The tank plate that comes with the kit is great but I wanted something more. Using the existing hole locations from the...
Thyrfing,
You a have good point. Most of the forums for Savage are for bashing and I wouldn't want to use CF for that. For racing 4mm CF would work great. One issue is the cost of CF plates. I was going to make my own chassis plate for our team but for a .125 (3mm approx) x 6.0 x 30.00 plate...
Hey All,
I decided to post my 08 Racer build due to the persuasion of my buddies. We have seen on several forums more drivers being bitten by the racing bug after bashing their truck for so long. I’m doing this for several reasons. Two major reasons are to give new drivers enough...
I love it that HPI has finially released an updated shock for the savage. My question is what's the bore size 15mm/16mm? If they are 15 or 16mm then we can use truggy springs other wise when will HPI release option springs?
Sorry guys didn't preview post before I sent it. I had the link earlier.
