Putting a spin on this forum topic "What did you do to your HPI Savage today?"

Well, for starters, I found the reason why my truck wasn't starting. I had an air leak coming from the OFNA fuel tank gasket. Removed the tank, put back the stock tank lowered below the carb using a combination of the OFNA bracket and the stock tank mounts.

And... I stripped my spur gear. :banghead:

Already in the works @Jam Racing 1 I have a Robinson 47t spur gear and Robinson 17t clutch bell on the way.
Would like to upgrade the slipper pads as well to the HPI ceramics but I’m having trouble finding them. Can only find the stock ones.

Ya I been watching for those also, RC Planet and A Main are out of stock, but the stock ones work ok if you keep it locked down, but for a HIGH Power rig the ceramic is the way to go......

Spoke to my contact at the LHS today about some other parts and we got on the topic of HPI parts. He told me that he has been waiting for HPI to ship him parts for weeks now. Especially parts for the nitro vehicles. Not sure why.

Parts arrived today. Time to take it apart, swap out the old parts and get back on the road before snowfall here in the Northeast.

I've luckily never busted a tank. Why is your body so high? Drop that baby down.

If he dropped it down it probably protect his tank a little as well.

Just picked up a used Savage 25. Engine was completely gummed up. Heated it up with a heat gun and put some after run oil in it. Piston moves freely now. Can’t wait to fire it up tonight.

If it was gummed up that badly I recommend you remove the :ercm: and manually clean it all before starting it up again.....

Oh yes Jam racing. I had the head, button, backplate, and Roto start plate off. Thought about pulling the bearings, but I am thinking a little fuel through everything will help.

A little fuel will help completely dislodging whatever else is lodged in the engine while consuming what tolerance is left.
Patience, a little coolant/antifreeze, an old crock pot and 8hrs will make the engine shine like new while dissolving contaminants and dirt.
Thorough warm water rinse and application of your favorite flavor of after run oil ( tranny fluid) and you have good odds of performance.

    Imo
