changed out my dual brake pads.
good thing was i didn't remove either of my side rails. got in there with with just a screwdriver bit and speed wrench. removed both screws and pulled back the pads and discs. fixed the brake piston which had moved out of place cause my pads were so low. stuck new pads on new disc brakes. move everything back in place. and after a little struggle was able to mount the bottom screw then then the top. now just have to run it and adjust the brakes!!!

I didn't do anything to my existing savage, but I bought it a brother.

Got a savage flux hp off ebay. Tried going the conversion route, but after sending my money to Dan at Kershaw, found out he's shut down due to medical reasons. So, after getting my money back and researching what it takes to convert, found that I'll be spending $400 on parts/esc/motor, then all the work of tearing into it and converting it. That kind of dulled my interest in converting. The kershaw v2 conversion would have been nice for what I wanted. Something relatively simple and easy without having to dismantle the entire truck.

So, I started scouring ebay and craigslist. Most on ebay were either garbage, or half done conversions without the bp diffs/hd bones/axles or just wanted way more than I wanted to spend... then a few days ago, one showed up for $450. Looked ok, but only two shoddy photo's. Then after messaging back and forth with the guy, got to know him a bit, got many more photo's, checked out the quality of other rigs he had for sale and watched his youtube channel to see how he handled his other rigs and ended up buying it. He was even nice enough to throw in a handful of TRX connectors so I didn't have to buy any.

Should be here Friday. Told him to keep his radio/receiver, was just stock anyway. Supposedly has bp diffs, super hd outer bones, matching diff/axle cups. Has alloy rear axle carriers (no turnbuckle), front c-hubs and axle carriers, decent steering servo, castle esc (forgot to ask which one), RPM arms all around, RPM center skid, the stock hpi 2200kv motor and an LST shock conversion with RC Raven dual rate springs.

The only things I may still do to it is either buy another t-bone rear skid/wheelie bar (or transplant the one off my X for the time being) and perhaps looking into getting the nitro roll bar/engine hoop to help keep the body from flexing on roof landings.

20170729_194420.jpg Ran about 3 quarters of the tank on her in the street. Then while making one of her last passes I turned to look for cars and bam the curb jump in her way. Saw the wheel go under her and as I came up to get a better look... I knew she was done... Until parts come... She will be resting on the work bench!!! 20170729_194420.jpg

It's rare when I busted those, but I have broken a few of the past 20 years. Takes a pretty hard hit on a savage to snap those or the axle carrier ears. At least with the axle carriers, you can swap out one from the other side... or the rear... can't remember, but I've done that in a pinch.

Sprayed the body matt and just put the IRC kit on. I've taken the dogbone out because the one that was in here is too short and snaps out if the wheel turned too much, needs the xl one.

Well, long version is a thread I started somewhere, but the used savage flux I bought showed up. Tried running it 2 times, got 12 minutes on the first run, 3 minutes on the second... after fixing it, I ran it for 15 minutes in a parking lot, then took it out again today and lasted 17 minutes before I broke it again. Came with LST shocks and FLM mounts (which suck for fitment). The mounts push the top of the shock away but not the bottom, so they are at a pretty rough angle. After a hard landing, the top cap snapped/broke on one. So, since I had a spare set of plastic big bores, I put those on. Only to find that I didn't have long enough bolts... so I made some pins out of some old traxxas hinge pins instead for the top and used long enough bolts on the bottom to go through both front/rear ears on the RPM arms.

Unfortunatly, I didn't have a spare set of white springs like I have on my X for the big bores, and I didn't have enough 50 or 60 weight oil to fill them, so I threw in some 40 and got oil and springs in the mail.

Will see what tomorrow brings. I'll have to be pretty easy on it with 40 weight and light springs.

Have the Savage of the shelf and onto the bench to get it ready for the 26 of august bash, this time we will have a bit of a nitro show so I thought I would fix the brake puck and actually be able to stop this thing since there will be kids around this bash, surprisingly it has nothing much to do except WD 40 in the :ercm: and fix the brakes so this is how it sits now on my bench.....

Yea, the FLM mounts aren't great. I have the full IRC setup, only ever busted a rod end once. I'd get some of the A-arm brackets and give your setup another shot.

I actually have that full kit in a drawer. I won it on here or RCNT a year or two ago and never used it as I never broke a big bore and it handled fine for me with heavier springs and oil as it was. But, I didn't feel right selling it, so I kept it until one day buying the LST shocks for my X. Maybe I'll toy with it a bit this winter now that I don't have to spend $100 on shocks to use it. Fix the broken shock cap, clean them out, get proper RC Raven dual rates for them and use the IRC kit to put them back on.

Although, will the IRC lower mounts work with RPM arms? I don't think they will... My flux came with those and the RPM arms don't have two eyelets for shocks on them, just one on the front/rear of the arm, but not the bottom. Booooooooo...

Just checked the X replacement arms I ordered so I could remove the "suspension conversion" when it breaks and they only have one mount too...

Unfortunately this is correct. You'll have to buy a set of Savage 25 (or similar model) A-arms, as they have the two holes. That was one of the only annoying things about this upgrade.

Yeah, I'm not that gung ho about trying it to spend the $ on more arms. Maybe one day... or I'll buy some long bolts for all 4 corners so I can use a normal stand off and run the bolt through both mounting holes at least.
