everything is mounted down!!!! I WILL POST PICTURES TOMORROW.....ALL THAT'S LEFT IS TO INSTALL AND TEST RADIO GEAR AND THROTTLE/BRAKE LINKAGE!!!!!

here's the pics of everything mounted down to the truck

here is the servo plate using the stock fuel tank mounting holes and some 3mm screws
Picture546.jpg

Picture543.jpg

here is the fuel tank mounts. all of these were custom made by me out of aluminum..... the rear is gonna have a small spring in it so it can flex. also.... i f you look at it good....you can see the servo plate mount brace i made. the frame, battery box, servo mount, and rear all have about 3 layers of double sided tape to keep everything tight and also to keep the plastic tank from rubbing and making a hole.

Picture549.jpg

Picture550.jpg

here is the other side of the servo plate mount brace that i made. like i said earlier... i drilled no new holes in the frame...all were using the existing battery box holes

Picture548.jpg

since i ran the HPI Heatsink engine mount...with the gears i am using the side would not allow enough clearance for the engine to slide over.....so i shave the bottom poece of the frame rail in 2 places to allow the 2-3mm i needed. everything is perfect now....the mesh is just the way i want it.

Picture547.jpg

now.......all that's left is the linkages and radio equipment. i have to see how the temp sensor needs to be mounted for the Spektrum radio gear and the rpm sensor.......that should be finished tonight.

shoot..... a lota mooney in this frddy.....too scared to.........i hope i can get this thing broken in so i can race it..........got to finish it tonight

get that SF 1 outta there soulja. that are you using for steering servo?

as a throttle servo.... i have never had a problem with the SF-1. grant it... i know it is a cheap servo....but never had the first bit of trouble with it. i have the SF-5 on the steering and actually have 2 more new spares....but i said i was gonna try this first. i did the same mod on my last savage.......no problems with the old SF-1. i usually run Futaba S3305 because they are the only servos i have never replaced....Hitec 645MGs just don't last.....had 3 new ones and the all messed up. the SF-2s i've had were notorius for messing up......and always while i was turning under speed!!!!!! i want to keep this truck as much HPI as possible....but i had to stray in some places:lmao: ;-)

i just got off the phone with Ram RC lights and ordered some blue lights for the top of the light bar instead of the yellow. i hope they are here by the time of the finals........

You do some nice work the soulman.. Can't wait to see the video of that BEAST!!!!!!:evilrocker:

cant figure out the turning prob with the susp. conversion. I'm about to grind that darn tab off. Somebody please he;lp with this. Very nice build soul look forward to seeing ya again at the wf!

what up?? haven't heard from ya in a while. i wouldn't grind the whole tab off.....you will have bad problems with the tie rods binding and they will over extend themselves. just cut that tab at an angle from the bottom. that will set uo your steering perfectly. don't ake too much off......only about 1 or 2mm and you will be straight. check out the beginning of this thread and you will see how mine was......after i shaved a little of the arm i was good....even had a lil more than i expected......holla at me if you need better pics and i will take some........

well guys......just when you thought you were gonna be finished something else comes up!!! the throttle linkage setup is half HPI stock savage stuff and the rest are from the Ofna Purple throttle linkage. it is just a modified setup of the stock one.....i really like the stock servo savor and didn't want to not use it...because i have tried the straight ofna setup ....but didn't like it. i got the throttle linkage on and finished......and was about to add y Telemetry sensors for RPM and Temp...........AND THE DOG ON WIRES ARE TOO SHORT!!! so i have to order two 6" extensions to add the Telemetry sensors so i can put the receiver in. i also am waiting for the XL pipe hanger......i an using that becase the pipe assembly is shorther than the stock x or ss hanger. that should be in today. well i was bored last night since i coldn't do a radio check......so i painted the old fire truck body that i had originally started to use. now it will be my old bashing body so that i won't get the trooper body messed up. didnn't care about this body since it gonna get messed up anyway......but here are pics of the final chassis set up without pipe and fire truck body.

i will post pics of it tonight with wheels & tires....but i don't think i am gonna run the big joes. i have to talk to one of the moderators to see if i can sell them on the forum. all i am missing are the dang extensions and i can run this puppy...........

not really...... i think is is gonna be a tarmac terror......so i am gonna run the phaltlines. i will be posting a for sale link 2nite.

here are some pics of the truck with the xl tires & wheels and the fire truck body. funny how wheels, tires, and a body can change the whole look of the truck ain't it?!?!?!?!?!

the paint job on this fire truck body was a rush job.....didn't take too much time to pay attention to detail because it is gonna get messed up anyway. this is gonna be the body i run it with... the f100 is gonna be static display until i get another. i am gonna do it the same way...but without the lights

shout out to Bankrupter a JCam......that's for telling me how NOT to ruin my new engine!!!!!!!!!! didn't know modded engines were that touchy!!!

Still an awesome looking truck soulja! Cant wait till i start on my truck. Deffinatly going to do the steering mod like you did looks like you get a bit tighter turn out of it.

yez....it worked out very well. can't wait to try this bad boy out.....

care to share what they tell you?

and....for all you guys that was wondering how much of a difference the steering mod made that i did....look at the earlier pics of this truck with the wheels turned....and look at this one now!!! BIG DIFFERENCE!!!

what was keeping it from full turn soul?

thanks frddy and to answer your questions

1) they were just tellin me about how touchy a modded engine can be and how to break it in......and how much throttle NOT to use. LOL
2) the ear that is the steering stop on the HPI suspension kit was two biig and wasn't allowing the travel i wanted....my other trucks had more steering than this one had with the old steering arms with 2 holes. so....what i did was cut the steering stop down at an angle from the bottom to make it travel more.......and it worked like a charm. steering throw is just the way that i want it now. if you want better pics of it let me know

i read Banks thread on another carb beside the Picco....and i went to a friend of mine's house and we put the 5.9 carb in mine and it worked fine.....hmmmmmmmm.............larger venturi..........i wonder............

truck is about there! i went on and ran the fuel lines and everything....all i need is my extensions for the rpm sensor and temp gauge...but here's some eye candy to see what she looks like.

I love the fact and i didnt notice that hardly noting is seen from the bottom.....you don't see the fuel tank to the left side....and you can barely see the tip of the pipe. i turned the pipe a little to make sure that it would work on the hanger...but the X SS hanger was way to short. so.... i used the hanger off the XL and it fit perfect! this was a super clean build.....i really didn't know it would come out this nice. the fuel lines are clean and tucked away.....i forgot to put the charging jack plug in.......but i am well pleased
