Tonight: Cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind around 5 mph.

Ill probably get a few runs in tonight to get a fell for the speky. I wanna pick up a servo extension for the temp on the engine to se how that works.. Ill work on the RPM thing after i figure this out. Was very easy to install also. Took me about 10 mins.

3speed.. I didn't finish putting the thing in the tranny last night but will have plenty of time this evening.

@mike, I set it at 2 1/2 turns for 2nd and 5 turns in for 3rd. Any other recommendations?

My DX3S Review....

Ahem :clears throat:

Well after trying out and holding a few different radios i went with the Spektrum DX3S on Wednesday. Finally got a chance to tinker with it yesterday after installing the Telemetry temp sensor for the cooling head. After preheating i used my gun vs my radio and my radio was off my 2 degrees. So i took her out for a minute to test my 3 speed shift points. I must say it does feel a little more responsive. No problems at all with turning or trigger.. everything seems to be on point just with a better feel with this beautiful controller in my hand. After running for about 5-8 mins a overheat warning came up on the LCD when the mill hit 220F. I said.. well i don't like that.. Looking into how to remove that now. Gonna give the RPM sensor a shot this evening.. Might as well use this thing to its full potential.

Any questions?

I noticed the springs as well, they look nice. As for the tranny settings, I had to do mine by feel. It didn't shift right out of the box so I took it apart and put it to the factory specs but that didn't work for me either. It was going from 1st to 3rd. For some reason second was way too tight at "factory" specs. I don't know if I have a funky spring in there or what but the second time I took it apart I just used a small flathead screwdriver to open up the clutch piece for each gear and that's when I figured out that 2nd had way more tension. So I readjusted both gears until second had tension that felt like it was in between the other two gears and then tested it. It was using all three gears at that point and all it took was one more time into the tranny to fine tune 2nd, since 3rd can be done outside the truck. It works great now but for some reason the factory settings were way off for mine.

Let me know how you like that gearing. Now that I have my LSN issues worked out and the new dynamite max-life clutch shoes in the XL is wheelying like a champ and keeping temps around 235-245 degrees even on a low (stock) fuel tank. If I'm moving too quickly it doesn't wheely too hard but it will pick the front wheels up like 3-4" and take off though. Anything under like 15 mph though and it will flip right over even with the HPI wheely bar on, if I hit too hard. I'm using the 16/52 combo but wouldn't mind experimenting with my gears a little. It does seem to get really good top speed even with those gears though. Just about as fast as my touring car with a 2 speed in it on flat pavement. Plus, the savvy can go that fast pretty much everywhere LOL.

Put it on last night. I'm strapped it to my PVC stand on my workbench and fired her up. I'm happy with the gears so far.. Id have to let you guys know on Friday when it stops raining. Ill keep you posted mike!

I'm just kinda unsure about this setup... what you think?

By the pic it looks fine to me. I loosened my slipper a very tiny amount before but I'm gonna tighten it down completely and see what happens. I thought it may have been causing me a problem but I don't think it was after all so I'm gonna snug it back down. You should get really good top speed with the smaller spur, especially with the phaltlines on, but I don't how much gain you will see. I know guys with really powerful mills run even higher gears cause they can get away with it. 17/47 seems to be a common setup from what I've read here.

That what i was going for... they didnt have any at the LHS.. Seen this RR steel spur and wanted it.. I'm sure it will do the job. Friday morning.. I should have an answer for you.

Cool. It's sunny here today and it was really nice yesterday too. The savvy and my heli are both running extremely well, so I'll be goin' out.

Mike i went with a 49T Spur / 17T CB. Let me say.. it love it.. The thing really flys..

Shock Covers!!

Also went and returned the 33% and went 30% nitro 10% oil sidewinder pro race.

That is the fuel I'm running and it works great. Also they say you don't need ARO with sidewinder fuels because of an additive thats already in it. Normally I don't go for wild marketing gimmicks but I'm a believer, just because I have always run sidewinder in my HPI Super Nitro RS4 and it still has the stock .15 in it 6 YEARS later and it still runs like champ. Never used ARO in it once, over the years, and it was stored in a garage for most of that time. I'm pretty happy with the stock 16/52 gears in the XL for now, it gives me good wheelies at low speeds and still seems fast to me on the top end. I might try 17/49 or even 19/49 if I get a new mill though.

hypnotiq can u give me some more info on where or how you did the shock covers for the big bores? also the dirt guards on the back arms are they home made? or bought?

Got Sway Bar installed up front!

God i need to get rid of that bulky hump.

Straight off a flux.. wheelie bar!!
