Josh I have encountered the problem early on with my Savage. What help me eleviate the problem from occuring sooner than most is I adjusted the servo nut.
Explaination
I adjusted the nut fastened about 19mm from bulkhead lower plate. Not to tight that when you do cart wheels the pinions in the servo strips and/or the plastic rod end get bent/strecthed. I have the nut tighten enough so the servo spring absorbs the trust and enough to turn the wheels of 13.4 lbs truck at a stand still using the DS1015.
Last important thing I did was make sure the servo rod is straight from the servo arm to the servo saver. It saved me alot of maintenance and time.
thanks a lot joe... i guess my servo saver is locked all the way down at the moment...
I understand your explaination but i do not understand the servo rod? Do you mean from the servo arm to the servo saver?
It may be 8mm.... i cant honestly remember.. I bought a whole load from hobby king and just used what ever could get over the ends... But what i noticed is that i used larger mesh, even on servo wires as i couldnt fit the smaller mesh over the servo connectors.... The ideal method would be to slide the mesh over the wire before you solder the connectors on... Ill do this correctly at some point...
A couple of quote about the mesh from the HK site:
"Our Wire Mesh Guard is an excellent way to protect servo leads or battery wires.
The mesh expands to 4x original size and comes in a variety of colours"
"Cool stuff, works like chinese finger cuffs, push together to enlarge"
