Wow! Looks like the modded Picco for me. What pipe have you found that works best with it, i keep reading things on this Buku tuned pipe that self adjusts throughout the whole RPM range, but i still cant tell if its a gimmic, anyone here have any ahnds on time with it?

I have 2 bukus I no longer use...

OFNA or Dynamite 086 pipes on the picco or LRP. Hands down! there is a macs pipe that works good is ear splitting load but looks like a banana hanging off the side of your truck

Well looks like amodded picco .28 comboed with a Dynamite 086 pipe for me. since i am sure that this thing will be making CRAZY power i am sure that i can step my gear ratio up a bit from stock,Maby a 19-20 tooth clutch bell and a 49-47 tooth spur? And on top of that maby switch out the third gear for a high speed gear? You think it would work well? Sugestions?

Nice choice deathrage. get ready for your face to hurt from the smiling that comes with it!

i also run a modded picco with dyn 086 & 3-speed with hi-speed 3rd. Running 18 & 19/47 gearing. Killer.

don't know how long the 3-speed is gonna last behind modded picco so i got a 2 speed in reserve.

ask bank about his 3-speeds 😉

Does bank have a good combo or does he have a custom made tranny? I am completely open to all sugestions. Oh and it looks like my punney front diff went out on me Might as well build a new pair becuase the stock ones sucked anyway, I'm gonna start another thread for sugestions (dang this hobby, i keep spending money but its to much fun)

here is the thread for the diff's

We have tried all sorts of gear and tranny combo's with some success. Bank is working on a project with machined gears and I have been in contact with my laser cutter, stainless steel gears are in the works and should solve all the problems.... I hope lol.

don't you mean move the problem down the line...............?

one thing I found in this sport is:
make something strong enough not to break and the next weak link breaks.

I'm running a 2 speed = no issues

Pure, are these "machined gears" going to be for replacing the stock tranny gears? also would this be something that would be for sale? I am not currently looking for replacement gears. But will eventually be interested in that kind of upgrade when my current F4.6 dies. I would also be looking for you to mod whatever new mill I do get. I only bring this up for anyone that is currently running a modded mill, and for myself when I get to that point. always good to have a plan so you can start saving pennies!

I too would buy these gears if they went up for sale.

please correct me if i am wrong but as for things breaking down further down the line, the only thing left after the tranny is the diff's and am told that the stock XL diff's are prtty tough to start with, and i already have the dog bonz situation taken care of with a a new set of HD DBz, and as for the front and rear shaft thats an easy replacement with something beefier.

But i do agree with you crash your truck is only as strong as the weekest link, and if that link is part of what makes it go...your screwed.

after several years of breaking stuff, I decided to keep a plastic spur gear

Its the cheapest weak link to replace.

it may be cheep but i think its worth the price of even a cheep hardened spur gear vs down time, i just cant help but see that plastic piece breaking 5 min into a bashing session.

only time Ive burned as spur is if the engine moves.

I run plastic spurs, I had a steel spur that came with my X and sold it new. I have never run a three speed in any of my trucks, my buddy has played with them and blown up 5, we can't believe the onroad tranny is still holding up, it literally jumps every time it shifts gears lol. I have blown second gear out of at least 5 two speeds until I lowered the shift point, running second only seems to hold up fine with 17/47 gearing. The link is my truck at the 1 minute mark, you can hear that it's second gear only. Yes there can be issues down the line, I can snap bones at will, the trick is more common sense then anything, use your power wisely and don't abuse it or your tuck will suffer the consequences. There are people running my engines with no issues, you don't have to string the tune right out to enjoy the benefits of a modded engine 😉

Steel gears will move the issues out of the tranny making things more easy to work on, I would rather replace a dog bone etc as it is much more accessible then the tranny gears. This fix isn't for everyone but there are enough people with my engines that something has to be done to fix the problem.

believe it or not, ive found the HPI HD bonz snapped much easier than the bonz that came stock with my X rtr. Have not had 1 issue with the XL/Flux bonz.

I agree with advice these guys are giving you tho... when you start addin the kind of power that a modded picco is gonna give, you can adjust your driving style / trigger style / & tune, so it wont blow your truck to smithereens every time you drive it.

but if you hammer the throttle to get every ounce of acceleration and top end out of it "boom."

i say you get the mill & run it around and get a feel for what it wants in terms of tune & what it needs in terms of stronger parts. you'll have a lot of run with it, thats for sure.

Sounds like a plan,oh and whati meant by the HD bondz was that i was getting that flux set that you recomended. I still have a few days untill i can order parts as that is when i am getting paid so i wont know for a week or to how my truck will react. Though i can garantee that i will post vids if i can get my hands on a camera and ill also post problems as they arise.

Yep, I'm in the Air Force, i astationed overe here in Korea. Speaking of which it looks like its time for me to go the work, i am sure ill think of some new questions when i get back. Thanks.

So what brand makes the best spur gears...or maby a more apropriate question would be which brands should i look out for becuase they suck?
