Hi all, first, I want to thank everyone for their countless number of posts that helped me along with this build. I know I didnt post much on it, but I did wear out that search function and found some great info.
On a surprising turn in Feb weather, it was around 52 deg today (Northern, IL). They have been predicting this for the last week. So it was time to do what I had to do to take advantage of the weather.
Around noon, I started my procedures.
Got everything in order and was ready to fire this Xss up.
I primed the lines with fuels and was ready to start pulling.
After several tries, I got her running.
I wasnt sure what breakin method I was going to use, but my goal was to get it running on a stand and take it from there.
A couple things about my first tank that I want to address.
#1-While testing the radio functions, I had the push the brake and engine dies issue.
#2- When idling on the stand, and when on the ground, the wheels/truck are always moving.
#1 fix-I quickly went to my laptop and found some posts on a idle issue. Turned that a bit and quickly solved that problem.(need that 1mm gap).
Now I can activate the brakes, and the engine still runs.
#2-This is still an issue after two tanks. It was happening before I adjusted the idle screw, so I know that wasnt it. Any thoughts?

I did two tanks today. Both of them went really well. I always had smoke (never went past 1/2 throttle). At first I had a sock on the head, and it was idling on a stand in the garage(with door open) and I actually had temps near 275. However, with the sock off and the truck on the open air, I was able to maintain that 200 degree mark.
on one of my 1/2 throttle passes, I lost the nut that holds the tire on.
Still cant find it, but I am glad I had a spare. Do those need locktite as well??? I couldnt figure out why my tired kept going while my truck was slowing down. :lmao3:
Other then that, no real issues. I was very excited to be out today.
My wife came out at one point and asked if this thing was going to have a muffler. Said it was really loud:dumb:.
But whatever.
Also, I was running the air filter and tube just stuck on the carb, no ziptie holding it on. Will this cause air leak. Is a issue. I hate wasting zip ties. Suggest something else?
I think thats it for now, much is running thru my head, but I cant type it all out.
Unfortunately, I think the weather wont be this nice again for some time, but atleast I got 2 tanks in!
Thoughts? Comments?
Thanks everyone!
