OK, I finally got the time this weekend to go through my crap, and got a few surprises 🙂
Two REAL good fore-head slappers 🙂
The MGT that I thought had a blown trans, just had a piece of gravel stuck in the spur gear! I couldn't see it through the plastic cover (which was covered in dirt - should have been the first clue LOL). So that is back up and running.
I pulled the Picco out of my son's truck, and put it back in mine. I filled the shocks with oil, adjusted the suspension - needs a shake-down run, but should be good to go.
My son's truck, well that was a different story 🙂 I thought he had bent a front suspension pin on the lower arm, but he had not. He had bent one of the two shocks in the front, and that was preventing the suspension from cycling. I swapped in the Dynamite motor, and while I was doing that, I noticed the rear diff was not quite right. Long story short, he blew almost all the teeth off the pinion gear, and most of the teeth on the ring gear LOL. Not bad! That's what happens when we tells me its not running right, and I tell him to keep going 🙂 So I got that put back together, and once the motor is broken in, he will be good to go too.
The MT2 is a different story. The motor is definitely nuked. No compression at all - so I am gonna start looking around for a new mill. In the meantime, I am pulling the .15 out of my RS4 3 Evo and putting it in the MT2. Needs to be broken in, but again, better than nothing. Since that leaves me a motor short, I'm looking around for a brushless setup to put in the MT2 (maybe a Velineon) but that's not till after the WF.
The irony of all this is while my son and I were packing the car Sunday morning, I was also going to being my Hellfire, but at the last minute decided not to. It was recently overhauled, and again, no time for a shake-down. Well, she started right up, and short of needing a tune pretty badly, ran like a top. I know for next time - just grab it, it's only extra space 🙂
So! All in all not too bad - wish I had had the time to go through all this before the run so I could have been better prepared, but I'll get this figured out one of these days 🙂
I owe someone a bottle of 20wt shock oil, but I don't remember who I got it from - either Bob or nitrobashin ? Let me know guys, and I will get you a new one.
Anyways, thought I would share - can't make this weekend, but looking forward to getting together again soon!
