So I just completed my break-in after a new piston, sleeve and connecting rod installed. I tried the new school break-in outlined the sticky, how to: professional break-in. The last time I used the old school method and the compression didn't last very long. Hopefully this works better. I richened the hsn about 3/4 turn from factory to get 200 degree temps and left the lsn factory. I did 5 runs of 3 minute intervals with temps ranging around 210 to 220 varying the throttle from idle to 1/4 to 1/2, then 3 runs of 5 minute intervals with temps ranging around 230 to 245 varying throttle from idle to1/4 to 1/2 to 3/4. Of course I made sure that the piston was at bdc each time it cooled down to about 85 degrees. I had a max temp of 260 which kind of concerns me a little. I noticed an increase in power a little towards the end of this process. I have a motorsaver air filter and a tsais c5h pipe. I used an OS #8 plug and bryons 20% rtr fuel.
Questions:
Does all this sound correct and reasonable with temps?
Can I go ahead and start to tune my engine?
