ive been "patiently" awaiting my new "bulletproof" hpi diffs and they finally came in the mail today!

they are beefy and pretty slick looking. they look like they will hold for quite some time with the BL set up.
so pros i see

the pinion is solid with no hole going thru it
teeth are big
machined
they mesh perfectly together
kit comes with everything you need from grease to thread lock, new screws, shims, bearing, pinion, and ring
the pinion has a hole for the cup set screw/shaft so you don't have to worry about the set screw backing out like with the cens

Cons i see
still have the small bearing on the cups side.

some pics.

Well shouldn't be long now till I can pick up a crap load of the old style diffs cheep as dirt. I will be curious to see how these hold up though. I have had no problems with the old style so I will stick with them for now.

What bulkheads are you going to install you new diffs in? Where did you buy them from? Got a link?

Is the tooth count different then stock?

hope you don't mind me puttin a link Jon, i know your on your way home in a hour or so.

here is a link to them on smfstore.com

my hat goes off to hpi on these diffs. looks like they listen to their customers' desire for a stronger diff (like CENS) in their truck, created a new diff while keeping the gear ratio very similar.

doubt you'll even need to regear your c/b - spur. nice.

Stock is 13/43 the upgrade is 9/29. Would that be close enough to keep the same CB/spur or do you think the CB should be dropped a couple of teeth?

The ratio is the same for the final drive, should be no need to change your clutch bell or spur gear.

Wow these are sick. I have not seen that they came out with new ones. Isn't th 13/43 1:3.307 and the 9/29 1:3.222 So they are a tad different but not to much.

I can't wait to hear how they hold up. Hopefully as well as the CEN diffs.

Those are BEEFY!! Will have to add them to my upgrade list..Let us no how they hold up in your Flux BA..

Your right, the new ones are just a little higher so you should get a little extra speed out of your current SG and CB. My bad.

They look good, cant wait to get mine and try them out, will cost just a touch more for me to rebuild a diff with these than a rebuild using XL HD gears so well worth a try.

Thanks man!

look good but for now ill stick to old style i never blow them out unless the screws back outta the diff cups . lol

got them installed today, ill start testing tomorrow.

they are in x bulks as of right now BUT i ordered flux bulks, when they arrive ill be transferring them over.

do they take the same bearing as the X/XL? ive heard that the flux diff takes a larger bearing on the ring gear side.

so whats up with these?

well here they are installed. got 2 packs run thru them so far bout 1 hr total and so far so good other then a broken bulkhead... AGAIN...

Man those are beefy!! What are you going to do to try and get rid of the broken Bulkhead??

HPI should have gone the whole nine yards and replace the 10x16 bearings with 8x16 to make these truly bullet proof. They missed a golden opportunity there...

i replaced the bad bulk with flux bulks. these diffs are great and have held up phenomenal so far. when i changed out the bulks they looked brand new still.

i've read somewhere that these are now standard parts in the flux. curious if this is true or not.
