Just to help out people that may reply:

What is the engine make and model?
What fuel are you running?
What glow plug are you running?

At a glance it looks like you have been running it a bit rich.

from the picture i can see your HSN pretty much flush, is this the setting u run it at?

yeah i have been running it like that any more and it runs poorly or my temps sky rocket to like 29 to almost 300 cause i have had to lean my LSN so much to get it to take off with out feathering it.

would an air leak cause me not to be able to lean out my HSN to much? cause so far iv been pretty disappointed with the performance of the LRP and 30% nitro i figured it would go like a bat out of hell, lol i could be wrong and I'm still sucking at the tunning thing.

Something is definitely wrong there. That motor should be pretty sweet. I would start over from factory settings, and then go by Purenitro's tuning guide.

well thats what i keep hearing thats why i went with this engine. so i figured i would seal the engine, (just have to figure out what to seal the HSN and LSN with my LHS doesn't carry the green slim) and then go from there. i may just have to order it i guess, i just don't like paying more in shipping then the product I'm buying, lol.

That looks like an engine run way too lean. Try richining wa y up. Ive had my lrp 30 for a while. It runs good. Hope you get some more life out of that mill.Good luck.

so my engine is going to die an untimly death then? am i rich or lean? i say I'm way to rich just from my needle settings but what does the engine say? (good thing i have a spare engine, lol this one is basically a learning engine).

turn your HSN in a full turn, then turn the LSN back to flush, accelerate from full, if it bogs turn the LSN out, keep doing this till it takes of with no problems and plenty of smoke,if u cant tune the HSN theres something not right

you mean in right cause out would richen it up more and i know it will bog from flush settings cause the stock settings are really rich with this engine.

see i thought that there was something wrong with that as well, not being able to tune my HSN very much at all.

want something close to that color

Nice pics Dan
Defently a nice golden brown!
How much fuel did you have @ that point?

Shark
I'd say your lean as well looking at the pics, do you have any video of it running? That would help out alot.

I will get some pics of my LRP .28 @ right about 2 gallons as well

see thats the part that worrys me cause i wasn't able to really tune the HSN, and the LSN is in alot and still have to feather it to get it to go sometimes. but i sealed my engine couldn't seal the LSN and HSN cause i don't have any green slime, but i did the back plate and the carb and the around the screw that tightens up the carb. so i will see if that makes any difference and hopefully tomorrow i will return it and get some video of it.

Here is my Lrp .28 @ about 2 gallons.
20% Odonnells
Mc-8

I'm no great tuning expert by any means, hopefully some others can chime in as well.

I might be alittle rich, since I don't have much color to it. But still runs great! Not sluggish at all.
--HSN about 2 7/8 turns out
--LSN about 3 turns out

Stock both needles are @ 3 3/4 turns out
But we are in 2 complete differant climates, so those setting are probly going to be differant from yours.

We'll I think I'm going to go back to 20% I don't think I'm ready for 30% that might be my problem I'm going o use the quarter I have left of the 30% and go back to 20%.

How long is nitro good for does anybody know I have a gallon of O'Donnell 20% but its been at least 6 to 8 months old should still be good right?

If you stored it right it should still be good.

I keep mine in the laundry room where the temps stay consistant. Does the fuel have any moisture build up? Was it kept out of the garage off the floor?

I'm thinking that you LSN is the issue, you said turned it alot?

Its been in my bed room in a dark spot. Temps are pretty consistant in there. I don't know haven't looked at it yet how can u tell between water an nitro? Or how to tell if there is moister?

Yeah I turned it in a lot and i still had to feather it or it would bog and die. That's why I couldn't tune my HSN much cause I had to have that one in so much.

well based on your first pics looks like you been running rich as theres lots of burnt oil on piston, take a q tip and some carb clean to get rid of the carbon build up and lean a little. at the point in my pics was about 2/4 of a gallon of 30 % race with 8% oil still had plenty of smoke .

see even with that needle setting i wansn't getting alot of smoke i was at about 1/2 throttle but when i went to WOT hardly any smoke at all.

Shark,

Have you richened up since that video?

In that video your were running pretty lean, especially at the end with high throttle and an empty tank.

Hope you get it figured out bud

accually if i remember correctly my needle setting HSN is in the same spot as in my pictures in this post cause i can't seem to lean it out anymore than where is set my LSN i don't remember i have retuned that LSN like 3 or 4 times now. its getting frustrating sometimes, lol but I'm still learning.

my grandad had an air leak and the only way he could get it to work until he sealed it up was to put the HSN a full turn out from FLUSH lol

wow i did seal my engine so i don't think i have an air leak (knock on wood, lol) i think I'm going to run it with 20% nitro and see if i can get it to work that way.

i talked with team associated about my engine today they say from what i have told them about my problem, and what i have been doing sounds like i have been doing everything right, and I'm sending in my engine for them to look at it. its still under warranty so i think thats my best bet i will keep you posted if you want to know on what they say about it. thanks for all the help lady (if there were any) and gents i may not know you all personnally but your all family.
