Sounds lean to me too, Idle hangs too high after WOT and doesn't seem to settle down as low as it should during idle. Have you read Purenitro's tuning guide? I definitely learned to read my engine better from that guide, just by the sounds alone. I would richen it on the high end and then lean the low if needed agter that. After you richen the HSN and adjust your LSN for good response off the line you'll need to adjust your idle too. I don't see enough smoke in most of the the vid.
 
thats ok, but thats any old vid, iv re-tuned like 3 or 4 times since then.

i couldn't richen well i suppose i could start to richen out past the outer casing of the HSN cause in that vid, my HSN is flush with the casing i couldn't touch it, if i leaned it out i couldn't lean the LSN temps would get near 300. so i don't know why there is no smoke at WOT.

in that vid i don't remember what my temps were at idle, I'm pretty sure they were low though, see i would start them out at factory settings, i would make some high speed passes, turn my HSN in about 1/8 turn, do some some more idle would go down my temps were 230 to 240 (haven't touched the LSN yet. but i would have to feather it in order to get it going or it would die, so i start to lean the LSN after i got some pretty good speed and temps and it sounded great, as soon as i started tuning my LSN temps would get near 300 so i had to Back my HSN back to flush temps came down. left the HSN were it was and then just did the LSN, well no matter how much i had it leaned in i had to feather it or it would die.

but see thats the problem iv been having with it. even after sealing the motor still having the same problem, i even went to 20% nitro today and still no change still the same problem.
 
No smoke means too lean, simple as that. I'm no expert but maybe you've got an air leak or something causing the lean condition but if your HSN is rich there should be blue smoke at WOT. You want a healthy amount of smoke at all times that's how you know the mill is getting the lubrication that it needs.
 
yeah cause my HSN is set really rich level with the outer casing, that would be really rich right? and I'm still not getting smoke at WOT, i do get lots of smoke when i just tap the throttle a few times or every time accually.

the guy said i may have a crack in my crank case that might be cause this but i will send it in and see what they say.

yeah what happened to the edit button, its kind of annoying, to say the least lol
 
White smoke when you hit the throttle usually means too rich on the bottom end I think. Unforunately I don't know the stock settings for the LRP so I'm not sure about that question.
 
well according to the LRP manual its 3.75 turns out from all the way in. for both needles, which is right were my HSN is now in that video and pretty every run i did.
 
your lsn works till about 40% throttle, after that your hsn takes over, if you accelerate to full and then brake (swapping back to the LSN) which may be set lean could be causing problems, I'm not sure though
 
What you want to do is a WOT pass and then let off of the throttle and let the truck coast, if the idle hangs high and doesn't settle to a low idle instantly, you are too lean on the high end. Don't use the breaks because that can help make the the motor settle down and won't tell you if it would have idled high before settling down on it's own.
 
well that would explain why it wasn't working for me i was hitting the brakes will have to have more room then, i will try that when i get my engine back from AE.
 
Have done the simple things like check the tank for a leak and changing out fuel lines?

Hope they get it figured out for ya man. Keep us posted with what they say.
 
yeah no leaks in the line and the tank isn't leaking. i looked at the motor under a light didn't see any cracks unless they were to small. i tested the HSN and LSN for leaks with some warm soapy water and had a piece of fuel like on the part were the fuel goes in and blew no bubbles on either of them so like i said theres either something wrong with the motor or its me, lol. i will keep you posted i sent it out today so we will see.
 
Um, I'm not sure about this but I would think it would suck the water in, not blow bubbles. Those are all part of the carb which is drawing air into the motor, if there were a lwak there it would be leaking air INTO into the motor not pushing it out, if that makes sense.
 
i was just following squirrels how to video on youtube about how to detect an air leak and he blew into the the carb. and if you have a leak you should see bubbling.
 
well i talked to AE today and they said that they replaced the needles cause the o rings were messed up, and was going to test it this afternoon. hope that fixed it.
 
well i just called AE again today and see how the test went, and they said that they were still having carb problems so now there going to replace the carb and test it again. well i feel better if pros are having trouble with it i know it wasn't something i did, lol

so basically when you turn the LSN out (richen) you need to turn the idle needle in (Lean), and turning the LSN in (leaning) you need to turn the idle needle out (richen) right maybe that was my problem as to why i couldn't floor it with out it dieing. but iv read that you have to leave the idle needle set at 1mm opening?
