    Engine cuts out

Hi all, I have a question that I can't figure out with my Savage. It's a Savage 25 with the stock engine. I haven't run in in a couple of years, and I got the urge to run it today. It started up pretty easily, and after a few adjustments idled well. The problem I'm having is that if I...

    Grub screw

Anyone know the size of the size of the grub screw that goes on the pipe hanger of the HPI tuned pipe? I bought one on ebay, but it didn't include these screws, so I need to go to the hardware store to find something that'll keep the pipe secure. Thanks.

    Shock starting point

Hi guys, I was wondering if you could give me a starting point for my shock springs and oil. After tearing apart my X that I got a few months ago, I've found that some of the shocks were empty, so I'll be rebuilding them. I figured it may be a good time to tune the shocks a bit. They're the...

    Better shock shafts?

Anyone know of any stronger shock shafts for the Savvy? I'm using stock right now. During yesterday's bash, I bent a shaft on my X, and broke one on my 25. It maybe time to upgrade. Are the big bores any stronger?

    Hellfire brakes

Hi all, just a quick question. I just bought a Hellfire, but the brakes aren't working quite right. I went ahead and bought some new brake pads, but I don't know how to stick the pads on the metal backing pieces. Anyone know how, or what glue to use? Thanks.

    Too much wrenchin' time

I'm just kind of thinking out loud, but it seem that we wrench on our trucks way more than we actually run them? It seems as if I'm always trying to fix/replace something, diagnose a problem, take it apart for inspections or cleanings, tuning it, or hopping up this or that. It's like I wrench...

    Mid range needle question

Hey guys. I got a question regarding tuning the midrange needle. My buddy bought a band new K4.6 HO with the midrange needle, and the engine runs like crap. He broke it in (not sure how), and we tried to tune it today. We set it to factory, and it's very slow, and his little torque off the...

    MIP clutch shoes

I've used the search feature here, but have found nothing on the MIP clutch shoes on these forums. It looks like most of you are running Nova shoes with Mugen 1.0mm springs. I've used MIP shoes on my RC10GT, and really like them, plus they are way easier to install. Are these shoes just no...

    Will a Savage 25 wheelie?

I was just wondering. I bought my Savage 25 used a couple of months ago, and it's been a really great truck, but I never got it to wheelie. It's pretty much stock, with a few heavy duty pieces in it, and strengthened diffs. No real speed mods other than a tuned pipe. I thought it ran great...

    Hard to start

I have a not so big problem with my mostly stock Savage 25. It's hard for me to get it to start when it's cold. What happens is, that on the first start of the day (I use a roto start, and the stock .25 engine), it only pops once, and then the roto start spins. It makes it difficult to start...

How often do you do a complete teardown?

Just like the title says. I was wondering how often you tear apart your Savages for maintenance. This thing is rock solid, but I want to make sure I keep it in good shape. I am kind of lazy though, so I don't really want to tear it down until I really need to.

    exhaust ruining bodies

Hi all, Kind of a bummer. I have a Savage 25 that I bought used a few months ago. I've been using the stock body, until I completely trashed it. I ended up buying a new Durango body from Hot Bodies. It's the first body I've ever painted, and it turned out pretty nice. Nothing fantastic...

    roto start vs. pull start

Hi everyone. I just got back from a good bashing session with my Savage. My fun was stopped by only one thing....my roto start went out. I just opened it up and found I stripped two of the gears. The roto start is kind of a mixed blessing. I appreciate not having to yank a cord when the...

How long do your bodies last?

I just came back from a camping trip, with my brother in law, and his brother. My brother in law just bought a used Savage 25 just like mine, and his brother bought a Redcat Landslide. We beat the living snot out of our trucks, jumping them from any cliff we could find. I was pretty surprised...

    Clutch bell play

This weekend as I was putting my Savage 25 through it's paces (yay, it's running!), I noticed that there was a lot of play in my clutch bell. I'm using an HPI 14 tooth racing clutch. It looks like the bolt holding the clutch assembly in has worn through the brass spacer, but no problem I have...

    Need help

Hi all, I'm wondering if you guys can point me in the right direction. I bought a used Savage 25 about a month ago. I pulled it apart, upgraded it a little, and fixed a set of stripped differentials. However, I can't get the engine started up. It appears that fuel isn't getting to the...

    Sealing a carb

Hi all. I just finished tearing apart, and putting back together a Savage 25 I bought used. The one thing I noticed when trying to run the truck is that the carb seems loose, and fuel seems to be leaking out of where it enters the engine. I really cranked down on the screw that holds it on...

    Diff cups

I recently bought a Savage 25, and was told that the diff was shot. Sure enough, it was..at least the rear was, since that's all I have apart now. I ended up buying an aluminum diff cup on ebay from Nova RC. It looks like a really nice piece. But I only got the diff cup. The HPI alloy cup...
