so, i have been away a few years.
Upon return to hobby, i find that Picco engines are no longer produced and parts are not readily available for them. I would like to get a rebuild for the one I own, just so i have one but have not been able to find one.

Anyway, the picco I own is a P3 .28 . blue head with flames etched on the top. it has about 1.5 gal of 30% nitro through it and the pinch is still very tight.
would i be better off taking this engine out of service on the hope that in a few years it will attain "vintage status"

the picco is the very bottom engine

Truthfully I would most likely box it up and tuck it away.... never know, one day it may be a collectible item....

I've been sitting on one of those for 6+ years... bought it with the intent to put it in my aftershock when my LRP28 died. I ran 7+ gallons through that engine, then sold the truck. Sold the engine to a buddy of mine for $50 not long after. Thing still ran like a top 2-3 gallons later with the new owner. Haven't seen it in a couple years.

Still have the picco in a drawer...

well, i am down to 2 nitro savages. X and an XL. before i leave on the construction with them i will do some engine swapping
X has my sub-zero motor in it right now (os30vg) swap that out for my novarossi 28-7
XL currently has my picco. will swap that out for the LRP .32 and box the picco up and stuff it away. judging by how tight the pinch still is. its still near new.
I may even buy a new picco to stuff away
