Hey guys!
New to the forum!

Ive owned a XL 5.9 savage for 2-4 years now and i just got myself a HPI Vorza about 1-2 years ago! Some days ago i dissmantled the whole car and started to buy in parts for the Flux rebuild!
Ive currently got everything i need but now I'm after a motor/ esc! And i wonder, whats the best choice for me? WP is a must! And it has to go just as fast or faster then my Vorza! Some guys here in norway recommanded

This one?

Do you guys got any other suggestions?
And last, this is an all original XL version, is there something that is a MUST to update or parts that easily snap off wich i should buy in as spares?
Thankfull for all answers!

Best reegards from Norway (sorry for my grammar) :D

Welcome to the site Kim!

I'd check out caste creations, specifically their mamba monster setup:

As for updates, if you are going flux you are going to break stuff. It's going to depend on how big you go. And with all the money you are going to spend on the upgrade I would probably concentrate on updating to electric with the most quality setup I could and then taking the breaks as they come. The XL already comes with quite a bit of upgraded parts over the standard savage.

Not sure if you have an upgrade kit yet, but Kershaw makes some great stuff for that. They also sell motor/ ESC combos and batteries so you could get everything you need from them.

welcome to the forum! I agree with x. mamba max/monster is a great setup. as for hop-ups, if the xl doesn't have big bore shocks already, I would get a set. I keep a spur gear, those little metal pins, and a-arms on hand at all times.

Thanks guys! Great forum!! :-D

Already got the kit + transmission stuff and spur gear! All i got left is the motor/ esc! I do not got big bores so il get those asap!!
Do you think the original vorza engine with a mamba esc would be an ok setup? Could you link me parts that 110% gonna brake? Still at work so il post some engine packs I'm concidering!

http://www.amazon.com/HPI-Savage-SU...id=1412176424&sr=8-3&keywords=hpi+savage+arms and I would replace the servos http://www.amazon.com/Hitec-32645S-...F8&qid=1412176571&sr=8-1&keywords=hitec+servo for steering works well. or, u could go savox if u want to spend a lot of money. and I take it back about the spur gear. I forgot that the electrics are metal:banghead: here's the pins http://www.amazon.com/Traxxas-1654-...&qid=1412176781&sr=8-3&keywords=rc+wheel+pins u should be able to buy the pins separate from ur lhs or ebay. the same pins are used for wheel hubs and gears.

LOTS will break, just a matter of time my friend. The thing there is that you already have upgraded driveshafts, differentials, suspension and other drivetrain bits. Upgrading from that stuff will usually mean modification, if anything is available. Like I said, replace them as they break. Besides, it's fun to bash so hard you take stuff out.

Two things I can think of that may help you are replacing the stock steering servo, as it is way under powered, and the hex hubs. The stock hex hubs are 17mm. If you go to a 23mm set up you will have options for some bigger/ better wheels and tires as well as more durability.

Ah, ordered everything you linked me now RCNUT! :-D
Yeah things always break, just wanted to have some spare parts since its quite expensive to buy here in norway instead of ebay wich has a bit more wait time!

Could you please link me the Hubs and some good tires X?
And the servo, is the servo RCNUT linked good enough to beginn with? And is it an easy install?

Okay sweet, il buy that one aswell, may upgrade laters if i want something else! But back to engine/ ESC ! What do you reccomand? I'm after something around 140-170$
And yeah it needs to be 6S And go fast/ faster then my vorza!

Hey @Kim welcome to HPISF!

The a-arms @rcnut14 linked are the stock arms, if you're looking for something stronger and an upgrade you'll want to check out these RPM A-arms. Also what servo do you have in the Savage now for steering? If it's the stock servo it's probably the HPI SF-50 and if that's the case rcnut also suggested a "downgrade" for you as the HS-645MG only has 133oz of torque while the HPI SF-50 servo has 166oz of torque.

When it comes to steering you want as much torque as you can get, an honest upgrade would be either the Hitec HS-7955TG (333oz torque) or the Savox 1256 (277oz torque). Savox is going to be the lesser expensive of the two and would work just fine, or stick with the stock servo.

In regards to your original question about what motor. What motor mount are you using? The Flux motor mount or other and if other which one?

Ya for sure i would listen to WoodiE and X on upgrades to do.... one can never have enough steering torque and speed to hold your line...
Welcome to the forum !!!!
Good Luck on the build and hope to see pictures and maybe a vid or 2 when ya got it all running.....

doesn't look to bad, I would suggest something better, maybe integy? and the reason I suggest the hitec is becase it works great and is cheap. if u want to spend money, than yea, savox. or, ive heard good things about jr, too

Parts you linked look pretty good , made by Arrma I believe, I would consider a heatsink of some kind for the motor you choose, Heat kills electric stuff just like nitro stuff so gettin rid of it will help things live longer......

Search this up:
Hobbywing QUICKRUN WP-8BL150 Brushless ESC w/4074 2000KV 4Pole Brushless Motor Thats what i got reccomanded here in norway! But as always the US always have something better, thats why i want ur opinion! haha and I'm out for something around 140-160$! If you could link me a good combo for that price wich is on the range with my vorza or better, il be veeery pleased! :-D '

Well Tekin is the leader in electric stuff as far as I know, but Hobbywing also is good stuff, Tekin will for sure cost over and above what you wanna spend but their rx8 esc is one of the best available...

http://www.teamtekin.com/rx8.html
that link to tekin should help out some....

I see you already purchased a mount, but you could look at the following:

http://kershawdesigns.com/Savage-DirectDriveV3.htm

That's a direct drive system that takes the place of the savage's transmission. It has a motor mount built into it. That will be a much more reliable drivetrain with high power brushless setups.

Ah okay! Il install everything i just ordered and if i feel anything sux il replace it with everything you have said!
I saw the shipping on the engine was insane. it wont arrive 10th november wich is WAY over the limit!! :-D
Really unsure of wich motor combo i should go for "/

Thanks X for posting this, I was racking my brain trying to remember these guys... They make some AWESOME stuff.....

Okay, what you think of the engine you posted? You think that setup would work fine to start with? Will it definatly do flips? haha

the reason I suggest the hitec is becase it works great and is cheap. if u want to spend money, than yea, savox. or, ive heard good things about jr, too

You're missing the point. Compared to the "upgrade" version of the Savox or Hitec, yes the model you linked is less money. But you can get the HPI SF-50 for even LESS money than the Hitec you linked to and it's more powerful. You suggested a downgrade which makes no sense.

Okay, what you think of the engine you posted? You think that setup would work fine to start with? Will it definatly do flips? haha
With the right gearing you can make just about any truck do wheelies and such. If all you're worried about is that then the cheaper kit you linked in the first post would probably do just fine. Otherwise Castle Creations would be a much better setup and Tekin even better, but with both you're going to spend a lot more money.

Okay, what you think of the engine you posted? You think that setup would work fine to start with? Will it definatly do flips? haha

First off Kim I don't think rcnut14 even has or has had a brushless Savage, so he has little to compare with....
If ya already have that conversion kit on the way I think it will work good for awhile, but if you wanna do backflips and such I would highly recommend the Kershaw Designs kit linked by X, as for electronics I would go either Tekin (a bit spendy but worth it) or the Castle Creations either way with these you are getting a quality product sold by a reputable company......
on to your servo i would get the highest rated one you can afford to get, but truthfully any servo over 200 ozin will fit the bill for your intended uses.....

Okay thanks alot! Do you have any links to the engine/ esc you recomand? Sorry for asking so much but I'm a big noobie at this atm! :D
