Joe i notcied you have the RSC conversion, yet you are using 2 shocks on the front instead of one....
Your not going to benefit from usinig the RSC unless you remove the inside shock.

By the way... the finished box mounted looks great... Are you not worried though about putting the balance out?

Waiting for my A720 to arrive and using it for mock up. If Savage Sam the "Champ" is using it, something must be right. I am not to worried about center of balance for now. I will give it a shot and if all fails I have the other Mid Tank plate, D8 tank, receiver box, and battery box on stand by.

Just the pipe for now dude! I wish I was gettin' the mod too LOL. Supposed to be in the mail Monday. I don't have a very good camera but I'll try to get some vids and see how they turn out on the computer.

The pipe for what i heard makes a huge difference. What # did you choose?

I did a wing mount that does not required any cutting of the body. I'll tidy it up and post the pictures soon.

I did a mock up that worked using hardware from home depot. Instead of using the hardward I am use a lighter part so I have to make some angles and cut with the plates I bought. Should be a reasonable mount. I used the same parts J1A1H minus the PRC wing mount

wow very beautiful build man keep em coming
.

Thanks and I love the look as well but I have to change some parts before I abuse the beast. I see you have some FLM items for your build. money man Have fun and post the build as it comes along. Welcome to :hpisf:

SNEAK PEAK!!!!No need to cut the Body. This was the intitial hardware for the mock up and was strong but I want another option. I am going to do a plate and run it to the bulkhead. This is a body that my oldest son and I experiemented with.

Firstly... that first experiment with the paint job looks kl... What colour is that? as well as the body.....

Thanks for the sneak peak pics... I was looking at fabbing something up along the same lines, and was going to try and utilise the location where the wheelie bar attatches too...

Keep going, you might be onto something... but maybe try and construct a way of attatching it to the rear lower skid plate? Exerting force onto the that may be better than the bulk and shock tower?

Parma QA was not good on this body. The thickness on the body was not consistant. The front wheel well was so thin that after we finished painting it cracked. I fixed it by widening the front fender flare. Oh it is the 1/8 Baja basher body.

The 1st coat was gun metal (not to where it was a solid fill) then I finished it with a glitery silver. In the sun is sparkles but I just got frustrated with the front fender flare so we stopped. My son said its OK dad we can just get the transformer body "ironhide" anyways. LOL

lol the glittery silver is a kl idea...
Arent you meant to do a couple of decent coats? This is why i don't want to attempt mine. Ill prob just mess it up!
I was tempted at the ironhide! but its a little too short for my tvps! damn

Yes, a couple of coats are needed, since I wanted a natural mix between the gun metal and glitter silver. A thick coat is not needed, just make sure you get a complete coat that is not going to be see through, and then you can achieve proper thickness through a sealing coat then finishing coat. By then you would have about 5-6 coats. The painting to me is the easy part; it was the uneven thickness of the body that messed it up for me. The body thickness is supposed to be .500 thick all around but at the fender flair it might have been only .28 thickness so when I picked it up "CRACK". I used to watch my Father paint allot of vehicles so I have some experience but not too much time with a professional spray gun and customer cars. I did some cars here and there but no big stuff. First car I ever painted was my uncles 1987 300Z. Oh boy not to pretty but it was setup to drag.

Break
The GMC TopKick can fit an XL. Just drill holes to fit and center up. The length of the TopKick is 528mm and the Savage XL is 590 mm. With the FLM EXT TVP it will have better look and fit than the XL most definitely. I have seen people fit 1/10 scale bodies on an XL and look fine. May not be the best but still negotiable.

CORRECTION The body thickness designed .050 but at the fender flare .028.

Complete screw change out

I try not to cut corners so I purchased the top screws that Japan has to offer that matched my FLM chassis. I changed every nut, bolt and screw. A whopping $67. I did not want to wait a week or more to get the screws from the mainland US. So yes I am crazy!!!!

Very nice build i can read this thread over and over again =)

My mid-tank stuff just came in today got every thing except FLM 46000- servo mounts and OFNA Linkage Sliders..

I might start my thread tomorrow or some thing ...

Hey xll-SavageX-llX. Thanks and I hope this is a guide for your build as I intended for someone doing a FLM build. I like to see your truck build as you progress.

Thanks..
I was given a water proof Rx box from my LHS it's traxxas but a little dremeling here and there it's a no name RX box :lmao: I'm going to try that out and zip tie the battery to the in side of the TVP but if that fails I'm going to use the CEN FF007 Rx/Bat box..

Thanks..

If I remember, you are doing a 250cc tank? You started asking others of a Mid Tank build the same time I started mine. I got the FLM servo mount in case I plan to switch to the 150cc tank and just transfer the CEN box to the top with little modification. Good luck and if you need any assistance, feel free to ask. You are going to have fun!

Yeah i remember your posts too..
I am doing the 250cc mid-tank and if i go with the CEN box I'm going to mount it to the side of the FLM TVP's..
But i need to find a place to get the FLM mounts all shipping is $20 for me =(
and my LHS doesn't associate with FLM..

dude holy crap! you have you heck of a truck? man all you need is a set of Spi Racing Wheels, with some badlands and your truck would be the best handling truck ever. nodoubt

Thanks Travis. I have a great truck and almost the best handling truck. I am only as good as a drive. My oldest son has a better control with the throttle than me. Not Joking. I have a heavy finger. Put in a good word for me with SPI racing wheels maybe I can represent out here in Japan.

OK, so I finished the first idea for the wing mount. I am working on one more then I will snap pictures and then post it soon. I been kind of busy, so sorry for the wait.
