I busted my crankshaft on my .25 so I'm in the market for a new motor. I was thinking of the LRP z.28 spec 3. My question is this: will it be too powerful and tear up my stock driveshafts/pinions/diff cups? I have the alloy diff housing with 4 spider bevel gears. I don't want to buy the motor and then rip everything up and have to replace it....I don't have the money for that.

Also, what is a good cheap pipe to run with this motor?

You will be fine with the LRP. You may go threw the diffs if they arnt shimmed properly. The drive shafts should be alright aslong as they arnt worn badely along with the drive cups. You alu. diff cups are what you want and the 4 spider gear is the best. Double check bearings and the extra power will put a bit more strain on them but if they look good leave then and keep an eye on them. The trans should be alright as long as its not totally worn out. You should be just fine.

Which bearings are you referring to that I need to check out? I have not taken my truck apart and made these kinds of checks yet.

hey d this is matt dave bud from the track at bluff. if your short on change go with the sts30 or 28 both are under 150 shipped. ive seen you drive you need that power. ran mine and daves the other day and there pretty close as in speed and top end. both run equally well and hold good tune. in running the sts30 in my savy now . I think last time i was down at the track with you guys i was running the axial 32 with nothing but probs. hope this helps and saves coin. if you need a crank to use or an engine get my # from dave i should be able to come up with a loner.

the main difference between the sts and lrp is reliability. The LRP is said to be the more reliable and easiest to tune also.
