What's with the zip-ties?

Lately I've noticed in some pics that people have zip-ties on the top of their cooling heads. It's peaked my interest, what purpose does this serve?

They are there to help keep scratches off the top of the heads. basicly a rub bar when slidding upside down acrost the concret. Simular to what Traxxas and a few others do on there stock enignes.
