I'm building a savage x I'm putting stock parts which ive bought of ebay on it for moment as i have a ss 25 for bashing but i want to put the biggest engine i can possibly.
I'm looking for speed over than torgue.
and is there a gear ratio which allow it to have a slower accelleration stop it from doing wheelies thanks

I am running the LRP Z.28R Spec 3 and I have to say, this thing only has one gallon on it and it puts out awesome power and rpm! It puts out way more power than the k5.9 (.36) and with the same gearing I picked a VERY noticeable difference in top speed because of the higher peak rpm of this mill. It wheelies my XL way better than the 5.9 ever did. I need to gear it up bad, and then I'll see even more top speed. I swear, just when you think this thing is redlining its just keeps winding out LOL. I say go .28, you'll be happy you did!

if you don't plan on getting it modded i would get the lrp .28 or the sh .28 with the red head. they have good power and easy to tune i run 2 lrp .28's i have never had a problem. another good choice would be the picco .28 but i heard they are sometimes a pain to setup and tune but once they are, they are beast.

ID guide you to LRP 28 myself. one of the fastest out of the box. If modding, disregard. As any motor is then cut to the modders spec and Id go with their recommendations.

I'm running the lrp.28 spec3,i love that thing, when i save some money AB mods are gonna do there thing to it 🙂

I'd talk with Adam about other options b4 sending that motor to him. He also prefers non-run mills also. Not that Id think he would tell a guy no. Just what he told me.. There are much better motors out there to have a modder do. They can do them all, yes... Some are just much more worth the expense then others.

Nothing bad to be said about the lrp/SH motor. Just some have more potential then others. I personally would not have that motor done by a pro. That is my opinion and don't mean anything. When I make mention to him not saying no above it was about the motor being run... not what it is!

hell, when i was looking at motors i looked at teh piccos, they were alittle out of my price range at teh time and i got a killer deal on my lrp.i understand that different motors will have different power, internals ect,I'm not trying to start **** here,i love this place 🙂

LMAO not thinking you were!!! Its a forum, if we discuss this stuff in threads, its good. People get to see more of the reasons why we do what we do.

LRP/SH motors are good. They have decent timing profiles built into them right off the factory floor. But the internals are a lil softer and would not be my first choice if ( I <--) were going to invest another 100 or so into them. Plus its what the the factory has already cut from/into them the limits what a Modder like Adam can do to improve them. They can only remove more. Not add to whats missing..

The LRP would make a nice modded motor. I have never said it would not...

Just he/others can get more out of others motors then that one. Some have better internals then them for longevity and your investment cost. For the record I'm not a picco lover .. They do mod nice but you would never see a stock one in any of my R/c's. Only reason I ever touched one was due to a modders advice as they are a good starting platform to make serious power from. I far from think the internals of a picco are superior to any. To be honest the first time I opened mine I thought it was junk. But I knew it was not what was there that mattered it what was going to be there. I have a picco from adam now in a race buggy but even that would be junk w/o his touch to make it a killer. That was my last picco ever. I have made the move to O.S from here out. But now the money gap is even larger.

Its all in what you can afford. I can enjoy a 99 buck king star 28 axail/hpi K Just as much as I can a 600 rossi.. Its all the fun factor in the end none of this matters! But its nice to have the facts for people to understand why we say what we do.

great post, now i know what you meant and fully understand it.not much different than my building a built motor for someones mustang which i love to do.thanks justin

i heard that the lrp was faster stock then the picco stock is this true or are they about the same.

Some will say the picco is. In the two I owned (1 of each) my LRP was faster/stronger out of the box. The piccos timing I got was lame. LRP needs very little crank timing to go all out from the numbers I have seen, in the few I have timed.

then i don't understand why everyone that asks what mill to get everyone says picco (except this thread) when the lrp is stronger, considering most people don't get their mills modded.

i don't know i aint know expert on mill but the axail .30 looks intresting in comparison too others

This is my experience based off two motors only..... I know picco also has cranks that come with better timing then mine did. Still not as far as the LRPs spec3. You can also get a LPR with a sleeve that needs to be indexed in the block better, port match way off etc. Ive always said lrp non-mod, picco mod. I tend not to post in what motor threads often as there is so many of them already in the data base to look up. But when I do chime in this is my answer. Anything more then a stock LRP breaks part on the savage anyways. Its not cheap to run mod motors but the fun factor is there and why I do it! lol if your willing to tare up a few parts with the extra power I say go for it all day. But if you have a very tight r/c budget I don't recommend them...

Good point about breaking parts Justin. I can only imagine what running an ERCM mill must be like, this LRP is killer and I'm more than happy with it so far. It's still impressing me with the new top speeds on the stock 16/52 gearing LOL. Just when you think it's redlining the rpms just keep peaking higher! It sounds awesome, and after high speed runs I'm seeing temps well under 220F. Sometimes low 200's after a fast pass! That JConcepts BAJR body that I posted in the other section has great airflow!

If you want BIG power... Hit me up. If you want a nice smooth racing engine... Hit me up. I got you all covered for both applications!!

He covered me alright.. Best modder I have done business with to date right here, people! I tried the rest, found the best.. Thanks Adam Loving my motor!!!

Thanks for the honesty and the kind words Justin there much appreciated. I'm very glad you are pleased with the engine!!
