I'm NEW TO NITRO RC'S AND WATS THE BEST FIRST UPGRADE FOR A 21 SAVAGE?:shocked: PIPE? AIR FILTER? COOLING HEAD?
 
hmm well the first thing i would do is grab a lighter tire if it still has the stock tires as there fairly heavy if i remember correctly and if your running the composite pipe "plastic" then a good cheap exhaust to upgrade to would be the hpi polished as its actually a fairly good exhaust and will only set ya back like $20 on ebay, I'm sure others can add more to the list lol as far as the head goes " if it aint broke don't fix it" lol as far as the air filter I'm not sure what the 21's had on them stock but i recently got a motor saver air filter and i like it alot better then stock and offers more protection for my engines...and aren't that expensive.

thanks for adding hump pack lol thats actually the first thing i grabbed so i didnt spend a fortune on aa's plus a hump pack offers more power then the aa's

Thanks for that info guys. but this morning i got a ribbed silver pipe for 8$ on ebay !!i was like wow no fight for it!:retarded:should be here anytime this week.:jamout: and i lookin at the hump packs i see what i can manage for pretty cheap.

You had no fight because its not a tuned pipe and provides the worst power out of the pipes available. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but its only 8 bucks..
 
If it is a.21, the ribbed pipe will give it some low end torque. That pipe isnt a tuned pipe as mentioned. It was designed for the .21. Just to give it some grunt down low where its really needed. don't expect any blistering high speed runs, but a wheelie may be possible now. IMO its a good match for the .21 and $8, not like your out anything. That pipe is also loud!
 
oh well guys you live you learn =-/. but at least i might a little more get up and go right? i think i found air filters that are like a k/n filter for 10$. and i think a hump pack 1200mah for 5$ is that a good price for a hump pack? i know its a deal for a air filter as they are like 20$+ on ebay.and do you know how much a charger would be for the hump pack?cornfused

the ribbed was the first pipe i ran on my x rtr and i actually liked it but as was said its fairly loud, but not ear splitting lol
 
don't know if id get a k&n air filter bro, you want to be able to take your filter apart & clean all the sand & dirt out of it so it doesnt grenade your mill 😛eace:
 
Foam for filters. The issue with the cotton gauze like the k&n style filters is that they are designed as a car breather filter, and IMO, do not filter down to a small enough ammount to be worth the money.

What ever you do...DO NOT BUY ONE OF THOSE K@N FILTERS! They are not made for rc and they will screw you're engine up.

Just get a hump pack,Ribbed pipe,And a motorsaver air filter.
 
yes plus i've heard the k&n air filters don't works as well with nitro engines as they do other types i would go with the motorsaver or the hpi one is actually a good filter setup!!! the k&n are awsome filters for your car or whatever but i've heard several times don't use them for nitro!!!
 
first welcome to the forum. if you gonna buy a hump pack off ebay make sure you buy a new one. try and grab a 1500 or 1600 mah pack. if you plan on bashing the truck id get a center skid rpm makes on relatively inexpensive.

another great addition to the list as the center skid plate not only protects the brake disk and drivetrain but with the way the rpm is mounted it actually helps support the tvp's better which stop them from "flexing" as much."the braces for the skid plate are wedged between the tvp's and the skid plate screws to the brace" and the rpm one adds very little weight and doesnt get all dinged up and scratched like a alum one would.....
 
Stay away from the K&N style air filters.......if you run one then say good bye to your motor. They let too much dirt and dust in compared to the Motor Saver which basically doesn't let any dirt in at all....

As far as hump packs go, talk to Chris on here (CDE's Electronics) he does some very nice work and at about the same price you would pay for a name brand 1500 or 1600.
 
i look thourgh the skid plate idea and check prices i not sure what i get soon. i look at filters too ebay had one i lookin at for 12$. and will and hump pack from a xl work ok its a 1200mah like i said but its a little more as far as $. i see about prices. I'm not sure what I'm gonna get and when. I'm just lookin for some opinions.:resp:
