I was wondering what the best engine for my money would be straight out of the box. So no custom TUNE etc. Complete BASHER no real serious racing.

Thanks

1.Modded Picco p3 with ERCM pipe = overkill 🙂

2. LRP .28
3. F4.6 - HPI or OFNA Force .28 same thing
4. Axial .28 or K4.6, same thing

Best out of the box/price is gonna have to be the ERCM P8.

Watch Tominator06 Video's and you will see. You cannot beat the performance and price of this mill with another mill off the shelf (or modded unless you buy a better motor and have Robin mod it.

I've experienced time & time again people ask a similar question and they say "i bash not race," but put a modded mill in their truck & let them try it & they NEVER look back.

There is nothing more thrilling to a Nitro Savage than adding the power of a modded mill & for the price "out the box" get the P8. Ask Tom.

I looked at those but can you actually buy them. seems that both places linked on the website are gone. I don't really want to buy an engine and send it to Canada and wait for it. I'm kind of into instant gratification. especially with the current weather conditions around here being like 75f 🙂

Hey Morphin3 how do you know if its overkill do you own a ercm combo

Negative..... maybe someday when i learn to drive 🙂
Not saying the motor is overkill, can never have to much power 🙂 was referring to the same type of thinking that frddy posted..

morph hit the nail on the head, if your looking for the ultimate contace Purenitro at Extreme RC mods. Send him a picco and wait to be dazzled. (might as well get a pipe to match while your at it) 😛

Thats the beauty of it. If you get the P8, Robin buys it from the Manufacturer, Mods it then you buy the mill pre-modded from him ..... send paypal & he ships it to you & your done. Simple, Easy, & VERY affordable.

Our buddy Visionary was runnin his ERCM LRP Spec 3 on Saturday (same mill as the P8 & trust me, its impressive as hell.

Thx for clearin that up Morphy, I agree, runnin a Modded mill adds a thrill to this hobby that can be attained any other way :bolt:

Not Really, he's gotten some great answers:

LRP .28
F4.6 - HPI or OFNA Force .28 same thing
Axial .28 or K4.6, same thing
OS 30

I still say for the $30/$40 more bucks that the ERCM P8 is best outta the box (esp compared to these here).

Honestly there really is no "best" engine. There are higher quality engines then others.. But a lot of what one considers there favorite or a best engine is honestly personal preference.

Right, lot's of people have different preferences, not everybody wants to run Picco.

I don't know how much you wanna spend, but I recently bought a RB .28MT9 which came with a roto start back plate for $240. It is nasty as Hell! I have a friend that has one of Robin's modded Piccos and the RB aint too far behind it! I kept fooling around with different engines when one would go bad or just wanted something different to try and during the whole time I didn't wanna spend a bunch of money just to bash with since I race other types of cars. I've worked at and helped out a couple of hobby shops over the years so between myself and customers, I have fooled with alot of motors. The RB in my opinion is the best motor I've come across that is a production engine. Obviously it's more expensive, but the money I have wasted on other motors just to find out they suck or they don't last is alot more. So, you really do get what you pay for. The Picco & the LRP are good engines also. I race with OS engines and love them to death. They are the most user friendly engines out there! The OS .30 runs good and has a bunch of torque, but doesn't have the top end that other engines have. So, if you wanna get a good engine with tons of power and good quality, go with a RB. Like I said, the only engine I have ever seen that will out perform it is a modded engine from Robin. But, if you don't wanna spend that kind of money, I understand. Good luck to you with whichever engine you get. BTW, make sure you don't choose a HPI 5.9. A couple friends of mine have all had the rear bearing go out in them with very little run time and I have had 2 with the same problem. One of the 5.9's only had 1/2 gallon through it! That sucks considering that most HPI engines are pretty good as far as durability goes.
