I am still breaking in my Savage X 4.6, on cold start it will remain still at idle, however, after 10 mins or so of running it will creep rather quickly thus:

Do you think an idle adjustment is required here?

well, I'm mot sure exactly what your asking, but I think you are saying it's idling too low once it gets warmed up? if so, I think I know why. the carb settings when cold and when hot are pretty different. for instance, a car could run great when cold, but crappy when warm. this is one reason you want to tune it after it is warmed up, about 200 degrees. so yes, i'd just screw in your idle a little bit once you get it warmed up.

From the video your tune sounds lean. Is it still at stock needle settings. It sounds as if your LSN is lean and your idle gap is to large.

everything is as it came out of the box. Still blows a lot of blue smoke on throttle, and is spitting oil

I was not really thinking the sound would help, what I am trying to illustrate with the small clip is that I have to apply full brake in order to stop the truck moving at idle. What you see in that video is no throttle input at all, the surface is flat, but the truck will not sit still 🙂

Your idle should be set right at the point just before it kills. (tuned when the engine is nice and warm)

X is right. Also is your LSN set flush with the carb slide.
When you apply the brakes dose the idle drop or stay high.
