What camcorder????????

Tom. night I will be finally goin out and buying a camcorder. I have a few options but they are limited to price and the fact that I can only buy it from Sears. I really like the Sony one, but suggestions and comments are fully welcome.

P.S. For some reason I coulded start this thread in the Open Forum, so since it's video related, it's here. If it need moved, please move to the appropriate section.

and love it. Great video and excellent still shots too. The 30Gig hard drive holds 10,000 pics and hours of High def 1080i video.
I have never been dissapointed with a Sony product
The sony for 499 looks like a good deal- I would check ebay b/c the wholesalers throw in LOTS of extras (battery, charger, lens filters etc)

I'm partial to Canon myself...I'm not sure if Sears would have one in your budget.

Update......I went ahead and got the Sony. The only one they had left was the floor model so the guy gave me a 10% discount. I used it this weekend while at Seaworld and shot a few vids and took a few pics. So far, I'm really likin this camcorder. The vids and pics came out clean and clear, asides from my slight shakeyness. I have yet to see what they look like on a bigger screen or comp. I'll have to check it out sometime this weekend. So, savvy bash vids should be comin in the near future, esp. since a few of you have wanted to see how the truck handles with the TVP's I made. So, stay tuned.

Yeah, my buddy will be goin with me. It'll be awhile prob. til I can post some vids cuz my wife and I's comp. crashed (hopefully only Windows and nothing is lost) and I have to use my sis's comp. and I don't want to install any more software onto her comp. It's already slow enough. Or, I'll ask my buddy if we can use his comp. for vid editing. I'll keep everybody posted.
