hello again
well all is well no more locking up!!started tuning abit after half a gallon, the only thing I'm having slight trouble with is if you keep in at say half throttle,it seems to be making a sort of poping noise,i give it a quick blast on full an its fine, almost like a small misfire.i haven't had much to do with the three needle carbs so I'm learning here, any one come across this?i did the lsn in about 1 8th of a turn, and put it back,it seems still rich down lower end.
if i rev it quickly and let the throttle off it did cut out a couple times.
I'm just abit conserned about the popping crackiling noise on half throttle, hard to explaine it.

The whole 1/8 th turn thing is fiction. The mid screw is not a needle it is just a seat to the LSN. It is a venturi to be exact. The only difference between it and a carb w/out one is instead of being pressed in it is threaded. The HPI carb is designed to be run flush. The only effect you get from turning it in 1/8 turn is you lean the LSN that much. As it moves the end of it in that much. Lock it at flush and forget about it other then to check it has not moved. Do all your tuning with the HSN/LSN as normal...

As far as the popping sounds like the LSN my be lean.

ok thanks again, just to get this right there are 2,you meaning the one on the slider?or the one on the carb to lock off flush?sorry for being silly I'm just not used to this set up.thanks dude.

talking about the carbs with and with out the mid screw. w/out the screw it's a pressed in part.

The one on the slider is the LSN. Small black screw..
The Brass one on the side of the carb is the mid...

ok mate,i adjusted the mid screw, sorry, the brass one, haven't touched the one on the slider yet.ill leave the mid one go then thats good, ive put it back flush.
i may give it a few more tanks yet running slightly rich to be on the safe side,NO MORE LOCKING YEAH!!!haha.cheers bud your a star!!ill send you over that beer in the post.hehe

I forgot to mention it wasnt poping until i screwed the mid range screw in that 8th of a turn,i did turn it back, would it be worth me taking that screw out and sealing it up with ptfe tape or something?(the mid range)i was wondering if me adjusting it has caused an air leak or something there?many thanks

I am a opponent to sealing a mill. I'll just buy new O-rings first. But if you want too just hit the end of it with some.
