most of us will not go out and build our own tuned pipes but, this article helps explain how they work. And may help you pick your next pipe for your application.

Great thread Dan. I think it gives an explanation of what peeps mean when they use words like "tuned" and "pulse."

Also i find that the diagrams take a bit of the mystery out of the certain "shapes" and "lengths" of the pipe for me.
