Tund Pipe not touching header

I recently installed a Buku pipe on my Savage X 4.6. The pipe does not meet the header in the coupling like shown in the manual. Is it necessary for the pipe to touch the header? Do I need to purchase a different header to run the Buku pipe?

I was kinda curious about this myself. I haven't ran it yet, but I have the same thing occuring. The stock hpi coupler is definitely to long for this application.

Is it a rubber tube coupling? If so, then it is not necessary for the pipe to touch the header because the coupling takes up the slack. I have seen this with other pipes and such that I have owned.

I had a chance to run my Savage yesterday and everything to work with the pipe not touching the header. The Buku pipe defiantly increase low end performance, need to do some more tuning to increase top end. Going to change clutch bell and install 3-speed with higher gear set next.

ya when your using the exhaust coupler or whatever its called they don't touch but its still airtight aslong as your using the zip ties

I used a peice of 5/8ths heater hose. Nice tight fit on both. Strong and not spongy like the stock part. Buy a foot at a auto store. You'll have years worth. For this app you use a inch+ or so.
