Tires & Rims

Hello Gents;
i have read most if not all of the threads on tires. i am in the market for a new set & am wondering if members will reply to this thread & tell us newer members their preference for bashing & racing. I am thinking of a set of maximimizer 1/2" offset rims & probably a set of dirt bonz & then maybe a set of goliaths, but it is a little confusing with so many choices & it is expensive to just buy & try. (ps. i am a basher & not a racer at this time)

I run on my basher a set of Maximizer 1/2" offset wheels and Zombie-maxx tires. They are great tires, great traction on all surfaces. I also love the 1/2" offset. There are a lot of guys locally that run the Zombie tires for racing as well however the Maximizers will be heavy for this.

My preference for racing is some proline LRP crime fighters on lrp dished wheels 1/2" offset.

i would use either the zombies or dirt bonz on a dish type wheel. they may not be pretty, but they are tough and rather light.

I like the look of the zombies too and noticed that many on this site use them. i have seen 1 or 2 guys have a prob where they become distorted, has this ever happened to you?

if you wrap duct tape or masking tape around the inside of the tire, it keeps it from balooning.

dread, sorry 2 ask, but I'm an idiot & haven't much experience w/ r/c. so do you just tape the inside of the tire around the perimeter or do you tape the sidewalls too? and then just put in the foam & mount the tire?

i have seen them where they fold them inside out and wrap where the tread would be on the opposite side. you want the sidewalls left alone for softer landings.

I to have had no issues with them but to keep them from distorting I have used a band of duct tape around them as well like Dread said.
