i have a savage 5.9 its awesome any way. it was running great at the track all day then i herd it back fire then it stalled not over heated had it on the rich side. ever since that incident i has bin doing it ever since i am baffled.here is what i did to try to fix....

resealed engine
new fuel lines
tested tank for leaks
new glow plug
tried resting the carb to factory settings still dose it
cleaned carb
and still has tons of compression

I am at the point of saying screw it and getting a new engine i don't know if i should get another 5.9 or not what others are out there and what would you think is best and wallet friendly
thanks you help is much appreciated

If ya have engine experience I would do what Upbasher says and tear it down and check all the parts, not sure what ya mean by a backfire ? but there could be alot of reasons it quit running... Possibly the backplate is loose or something like that.

Have you taken the engine completely apart and checked for damage on the piston/sleeve?

Sadly, this is likely the issue. It's possible the tune is out of wack, but it sounds like you've looked into that.

As for looking into another 5.9, I wouldn't. You can find much more capable engines in the 4.6 size, from LRP, Picco etc.

Believe it or not the stock f4,6 engine or the ofna force .28 are both fantastic engines. They have tons of power and tune really easily.
On the f4.6 though you will want to add a pull start and ditch the roto crap

Thanks for the input. i ended up getting a lrp z28r. hopefully i have good luck with this one
