Striped hex screw

Once again guys i come for help.... I was sealing my engine well long story short i striped the hex screw on the back plate.... not the one that holds the roto-start but the ones that are embedded in the back plate.... Help me guys i have tried gluing the hex wrench on the hex screw but no luck (did not glue the screw) Any suggestions would be great.... thanks

1. bring the mill to a local hardware store where you can find someone in the tool department that actually knows something about tools/how to use them (not home depot or lowes) & get an easy out.

2. get a drill bit the same size as the bolt (you can measure it by inserting the bit into one of the other holes that you were able to get the bolt out of) and drill out the bolt until you cut the head off. then remove the plate, clamp vice-grips on the remaining piece of bolt & back it out.

if you have a scratch awl or a tiny screw driver you can place the point into the hex on one of the corners, then angle the awl so you can hit it with a hammer.
this works for me with larger screws and bolts.

An option I have had with great success is use a plain old Torx bit. grab one that is slightly larger than the hex you are removing and lightly tap it into the hex. This will do 2 things, make grooves for the Torx bit to bite into, And also, the little bit of shock will transfer thru the threads and may help loosening the loctite holding it in.

And as always, replace with fresh hardware when you remove it.

If you don't get it out, let us know, take a picture and post it, Then we can offer other suggestions.

thanks for the suggestions guys.... i have managed to get the screw out BUT at the same time sending my back plate to hell. Any1 of u guys have any idea where i can get one? somewhere around ASIA would be awesome... Thanks for the help guys...

Depending on how bad you butchered your plate, I have seen them seal up fine with some RTV. Post a pic and maybe we can help a bit more.

Is this a metal or plastic backplate? If its metal, heat the scerw up. This will breakdown the locktite. I would try an extractor first. Its a blade,bit that is reverse threaded and cuts into the screw head, backing it out. Craftsman and Irwin make these. They do work. If that fails then drill the head off and use vicegrips.

its the most pro way to remove any screw 🙂
