hey guys carnt get my nephews new savage to work can get it to turn over just then start but when i tke out glow starter it dies.
and when is running wheels are spinnin?
plz help

ye trucks brand new and only got one glow starter but is makin plug glow

ok, breakn takes patience for sure.

the engine is very tight rite now.

leave the glo igniter on longer than normal.

get the truck so wheels are off the ground and set your idle a little
higher than normal for now.

Once you get it to idle with out the glo lower your idle and procede with break in.

If it will not idle for you take some fuel away by turning high speed needle 1/8 turns in.

compresion is tight on a new engine, try loosen the glow plug a little so theres a little fuel leaking around the plug then re snug,

problem is the second i take the glow starter off it dies a couple of seconds later?

hey guys wana say thanx for the help got my nephews savy workin now did extended runnin as seamed a bit tight ( 2 tanks idle, 1 1/4 throttle,2 half throttle runs great now thanx for the help

I've been having the same problem with my new savy. I didn't even get through the 2tanks idling with the wheels off the ground before my owb went out on me. The only time it seemed to run somewhat decent was when I took it outside and tried some figure 8's.

Any suggestions guys?

Thanks,
Paintfumes

Ps: I'm running 20% Traxxas top fuel (I know its not the best but I have 1.5 gallons of it that I bought or my 2 Traxxas's.) And I also have the hsn leaned 1/4 of a turn and the lsn 1/8 of a turn, but I'm still fouling out the plug?

You'll need to replace your OWB if it's broken, then start again with break in. If it doesn't idle, then do as Crash suggested, and if it still won't idle, lean it out some more until it does. Don't worry too much about leaning it a little, just make sure you only make small adjustments.

traxxas fuel seems to have a vary high oil content to it . u can probably lean it a little more just watch the temps while breaking it in. Ive ran a couple of gallons of that stuff and always seem to do the same with my plugs.

Thanks for the advice. I just picked up a quart of 20% Trinity monster fuel, a new owb and a couple glow plugs from the lhs. I will try breakin it some more tommorow.

When I broke my savage in I had very similar problems. What I did was to lean out the high side about 1/4 to 1/2 turn in small increments and adjusted the throttle trim on the transmitter all the way open and tweaked it back a little to keep the motor running and to minimize carb adjustments on break in. Good luck and hope you get it running

Got it running:coolkid01:

I put in my new owb, new os8 glow plug and some trinity monster horsepower 20% and she fired right up! I also threw in a 1500mah hump pack and power switch with charging port. I let it idle through 1 tank of gas(only stalled once) and will take it outside tommorow and finish the breakin:jamout:

Thanks for the help guys, I was starting to lose my patience with the truck.

ya traxxas fuel has pretty much the highest oil content at 18% which most engine guys say is to much oil,I'm running sidewinder which is 16%oil and alot say thats to much but i like it!! i've heard stories of traxxas fuel making the owb slip cuz of the high oil content

traxxas fuel is terrible. i had problems with it to. i only run trinity 20% in mine. being the weekend basher that i am. it seems to work best for me.
