Start Issue

Hey all. I just picked up a Savage X but I can't seem to get it to stay running. I can pull the starter and it wants to but just won't run. If I give it throttle then it will start but if I let off it dies. I put the needles to base settings and no dice. The carb is not closed off. Any other ideas? Thanks guys.

have you turned the idle screw in slowly till it stays running?

Yeah but honestly I didn't have a whole lot of time before the dang battery died on me. I still need to pick up a charger. Woulda been nice of the schmuck I bought it from to charge the battery. But what do you want for 150 bucks I guess. Thanks for the input, I'll give it a little more idle next time and see what happens.

no problem.. the idle is just a starting point to your stalling issue when you let off .. an easy way to adjust it is to have the truck off the ground and turn the throtle /break trim on the remote so it opens the carb till it starts then turn the trim back to a nice idle then set the idle screw to meet the idle its running at..

also to add the truck will run rich till she warms up to temp so make sure u don't over adjust the tick over screw
