I put an HPI 5.9 engine in my 25 along with upgrading the clutch and spur gear as they recommend. I used the HPI two piece spur gear and during the first run all six screws that hold the hub to the gear either came out or broke, there was nothing left so I think they just came out. Thinking I didn't use enough locktite on the threads I reassembled with new screws and lots of locktite and it came apart on me again. I ordered a one piece spur gear to alleviate the problem, I hope, but what would cause this? Is my spur gear too tight? I tightened the nut all the way then backed it out a half turn. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If it is the purple piece spur gear (middle). I have done everything to keep the screws from backing out but not even lock tight worked. I used a nut to hold it but it rubbed against the transmission. I recommend getting the steel spur gear 52 or 47 and throw that thing away.

ya i cant speak from experience as i have never used the 2 piece spur but like most things the less things that can go wrong the better lol

I had the same problem. So after assembling it with red loctite, I dabbed a bit of superglue on the backside of the spurgear where the screws were sticking out and that solved my problem. And if I need to swap the gear out, a slight twist with a needlenose pliers clears the superglue off and you can take the screws out.

HPI actually supplied blue locktite in the package. I have a one piece on order. Glad to hear it's not unusual.
