New RC world. Bought a used Savage4.6. Was running fine for a bit and then it turned right sluggish. Engine seems to rev fine but it lacks speed and wants to quit on acceleration. It`ll idle but soon as I give it gas it wants to stall as well. My mainconcern though is how much throttle I have to apply to get it moving and why it doesnt gain speed. Please Help

My guess would be that one of two things is occuring: your tune is to fat and you need to lean it out some, or somewhere in your driveline you are slipping (clutch shoes, spur pad).

First welcome to the forum and its good to have you here. I agree with X said, it sounds to me like it is running too rich. My recommendation is to reset the needles back to factory, make sure the carb gap is set to 1mm and read this thread on how to tune the engine: Click for engine tune how-to

The engine tuning link is in the How to thread where you will find an abundance of information. Click Here for How to Thread

In case you did not get a manual with your savy, here is a link to an electronic manual: Click here for PDF

If the motor is running too rich then it not get enough RPM's, so the transmission will not shift into second gear so it will not get up to full speed.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask and should get a quick answer. If you need an answer immediately, ask in the shoutbox and someone will help you out.

Thanks everyone. Finally got a chance to try again. This is whats happening. I start it up and the engine revs fine but it goes nowhere when I open the throttle, however if i pick it up, the wheels well spin normally(fast). Soon as i set it back down it`ll keep reving, just wont move. Also the flywheel and clutch spins fast along with the spur gear. When I prop it up the spur gear turns freely. I just noticed the the spur gear is slightly warped (or the outer gear ring part has shifted) Also what I see is that the pads(underneath.Brakes maybe?) stay forward which is the way they move when you hit the brake, forward. Should they stay forward all the time though? Waiting for battery to charge. Any hints u guys can give me here?

What are the spur pads?

I`m worried this might be the tranny
