Hi guys,

I am new to the RC world, so please bare my inexperience.
I have bought a second hand, good shape 5.9 XL nitro. Have been playing with it without major issues.
After a jump the other day, the right front steering turnbuckle came off. Seemed a easy fix and I just put it in place.
The issue is after that the RC pushed to the left when throttling, and only the rear wheels brake.
I don't know if the issue is somehow connected but I need guidance from where to start troubleshooting.
What should I check first?
Thanks a ton.

Sounds to me like power/braking isn't getting to your front wheels. Do you have all three dogbones (driveshafts) going to the front wheels still in place? There is one to each of the front wheels from the front differential and one that goes from the center transmission to the front differential. If those are in place, perhaps you broke a drive cup pin. Those are in the cups that hold the center dogbone in place. and on the outdrives of the differential.

If you spin the spur gear does all four wheels spin?

BTW, welcome to the site!

Here goes my usual answer on this after you check what X has said. Next check your wheel hexes and see if one is stripped on the front end start with the left wheel then I would check my front diff. I doubt the diff is the problem based upon the symptoms you are giving but I could be wrong.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions. I have checked all three driveshafts and they seem fine. The spur gear makes all four wheels to spin. I disassembled the front diff and everything was fine there also. I've opened the gearbox case to see the central transmission, and things look good there also. I have tested manually applying the brakes and spinning the shafts, in fact the shaft to the back is blocked but the one to the front is spinning freely. I am confused, it seems power is getting to the front, but brakes not? what else can I check?

Cheers

Sounds like the pin in the drive cup to me as well. That is pretty common, I have never broke one, but I have lost them before.

Yup, see my post earlier. The likely culprit is the drive cup pin on one or both ends of the center dogbone going to the front diff.

Also, when you put in a new cup pin, make sure to use some loctite on the threads. It likely just fell out.
