i run the 2 speed but i want to get a 3 speed, how much do they cost and where to get it from??? any tips??
 
Great Hobbies Has The Three Speed Kit Or The Assembled Version. The Assembled I Believe Is $110 Bucks Canadian
 
But I'm Sure Theres Somewere Closer To U That Has It Maybe If Your Not In Canada But Great Hobbies Are Amazing To Deal With And Have Lots Of Products So I Thought I Would Mention Them!
 
the brakes on my savage x 4.6 rtr are amazing. after i spent the hour and half i was furious cus it wasnt working at all. they just needed some adjustment from the servo side and the carb cap handle. my savage flips forward right now because brakes are so strong.
 
do u have the dual discs on ur savy 4.6? I'm lookin at up grading to the dual disc just not sure if i should do that or just do a complete upgrade
 
dual disk brake is very strong but i don't know how much stronger it is than single disc since i never had single. i have the savage x4.6 rtr. dual is VERY strong it makes my truck front flip sometimes so I'm forced to loosten the brakes a little.
 
i think i might try and do the swap then just not sure yet. i need something to get more brakes. do urs loose any brake after they get run for a little while?
 
my brakes are carbon ceramic the box says they don't wear out, until now they are still good but i had to adjust the whole braking system because they were very weak when set by the factory.
 
Glad you have luck with them................I messed mine up, still have them but they are really thin on 1 half and really thick on the other half, but it would do some nice stoppies.
 
So which brake pads would you guys say are better? The new fiberglass ones on the 4.6 or the stainless steel ones? I cant seem to get the brakes adjust properly, they seem to slip quite a bit. I'm going to try the fuel line method and see if that works.
 
yea i did the fuel line truck definate difference but i still want more. I'm doing the dual disc and the ofna upgrade at the same time should be a difference. already got everything ordered from the lhs glad i got a friend that works at the lhs now discounts are great lol
 
Should there be some sort of pad between the metal caliper and the fiberglass disc?
What ofna upgrade are you referring to?

upgrade your brakes

run a stock steel disc and a carbon disc.
use the stock hub, run with the discs back to back, no pad in between.
run 2 steel pads on the outside with the one against the carbon pad having the soft brake pad attached, don't use the stock hub, switch to a full force aluminum hub, change out the stock servo horn/linkage set up with an OFNA linkage kit.


part numbers from tower for the ofna parts-
10724, 10704, & 10731

that is what I'm doing in the next week.
 
That is a good linkage setup. My only advice is to bend the brake arm so it points straight up when the brakes are off. This will give the servo the ability to put the most power into the brakes.

Thanks for all the help guys. I just migrated over to nitro from electric so its a bit of a learning curve. Nice to know you guys are just a post away though..🙂
 
Well I replaced the spring with a piece of fuel tubing, adjusted the linkage connector on the servo and WOW.. I finally have breaks. I can almost stop on a dime now. All the posts here helped a great deal. One more question though. Does the ofna linkage setup make a big difference in performance over the stock setup?

from what i've been told the ofna setup is more adjustable and slightly stronger than the fuel line and old setup of the savage linkage. next week my savage will be upgraded to the ofna linkage and i'll post up here how it works out

well i know i said i was supposed to be doing the ofna upgrade my lhs didn't send there parts order in til late so it should be in next weeks delivery. if so i'll have it installed for next weekend. i can't wait
 
well i did the dual disc brake conversion yesterday and i already got to order a new disc. the one closest to the front is nearly in two pieces. kinda dissapointing but i think it was mainly my fault being in a hurry and tightening things up too tight. so i gotta order a new disc and i'll be back in business. but when it was working definately saw a difference but we'll see when i get everything dialed in
