Hello everyone, a newbie here to this forum.
I just installed a 5.9 in my X rtr and it was 10 tanks throught it, i tried leaning it to get some power and it just runs hot(285) and not very much power. When I richin it, it is very sluggish and does not want to get the rpms up. I checked the drive train and all is well. Reinstalled the 4.6 and it was fine, just getting a little worn with over 5 gallons of bashing through it. I am running the stock plug, stock 4.6 exhaust. I don't have the little orange carb restrictor installed, is this an issue. I was hoping to see a power increase with new engine. Any tips would be great. Also this is a great forum, can't believe I never found this place sooner.

Yes that would be correct, the composite 4.6 pipe. I was thinking of getting the stock 5.9 or would you suggest somethin better.

So it sounds like my pipe is holding this engine back. So what do I do with the little orange carb insert? Thanks for all the help guys, I was thinking I just wasted my money by this engine.

Thanks again for the info. Besides ebay is there anywhere else I can buy one online. I see tower does not carry it.

I'm not sure if they carry them or not but a good place to do business with "other then ebay" is S.M.F "slap my fro" store, they are a awsome place to shop for your rc needs just a thought!!!

Yes it is WAAAY better.

This info is taking off you tube and the pipe with GPS results gave no more top end... Just FYI

Have you tried this pipe?

I noticed alot of the pipes do not have the same diameter stinger opening. I tried a jp3 on mine and found it to be pretty weak. the stock pipe is the best pipe right now, imo.
one thing to check on that mil is the carb. if you got the stock 3 needle check to make sure the mid range needle is flush with the collar and rtv it so it cant move. I had the same symptoms as yours and found my mid needle was too lean.

Love the comic relief. I will be running it this weekend and I will let you know how it does. Still using the stock 4.6 pipe and maybe pick up something better this weekend. I did find the glow plow was burnt up, very suprised it even start, so I have in stalled a fresh one. Thanks again for the info, glad there is somewhere I can go for my savage info.
