savage tuning

hi,
just bought a savage 25 of ebay in good condition.
i have just got it and it has been used for a log time but it feels a bit sluggish when on full throttle and will some times stall.
which needle or needles need adjusting and in which direction.
any advice, tips or help will be greatly received.

first off fraser welcome to hpisf.

as for te tuning i would reset it to factory specs and start from there. if you need a manual they are in the forum section "savage garage" and then in the "savage how to section" you will find a sticky for manuals of all trucks. this would be a good place to start.

thanks for that adjusted the high and low speed needle but what does the 2mm mean on the idel(2mm in or out from flush well i think thats what it means.)

when you look in the carburator opening under the airfilterits the gap of the opening in the slide

so the idle screw should be out by 2mm

no pull off the air filter and look down the carb opening there should be a 1mm to 2mm open gap

just got to order some fuel (Byron 25%) and will tell you if it helped.

hi again,
I have finally got the fuel and am currently breaking in the fuel, however it seems very hot to touch. any tips for the break-in process and how hot should it idle at(Nitro Star S-25 engine.)
