Yep it's great during the 15 min main's it gives me a half a lap lead because everyone else has to pit for fuel and I don't.

yes, what started as just putting an engine in my spare savage has turned into a full blown project.....my wife blames you guys

let the games begin!...i recieved a bunch of stuff today, the engine, tvps, servo plate, alum. big bores, susp. conversion set, pipe, header, ofna 250cc tank.
I'm waiting on the servo mounts, rpm arms and hpi cvds
i put the 3spd tranny together last night and put the hpi bp diffs in the x bulkheads, i plan putting the tranny in the tvps tonight and probably the servo plate, start mocking everything up, i cant work on the front or rear ends yet, because i don't have the arms, they will be in next week
the one thing that sucks about this build is, when its finished, i cant drive it! i have to wait for the weather to get better, so i can break the engine in

ok, i fixed the links to the photobuckets pictures and added a couple new ones

alex, yes those are the new flm extended lcg tvps, you can see them better in the new pics....i did buy cf tvps, but they were the hpi stock lenght ones, and i wanted to do the 250cc mid tank mod, and i couldnt use the stock lenght tvps, so i bought the flm ext lcg ones and the flm servo plate

why could you not use your stock length tvps with the 250cc mid-tank?

The XL's and extended tvps are only longer in the rear. The stock tvp's would work fine for your mid tank...

...matter a fact, those are the XL FLM tvps (not the ext lcg ones), so you are gonna have to use your stock length carbon ones cause those right there are worthless (unless you do a bunch of modifying).

thanks lj, i tried to copy and paste the image link from photobucket and it said file path was incorrect, I'm dumb but not stupid, but i do tend to overlook stuff sometimes, lol

and freddy, pope said i couldnt use the stock x tvps with the 250 tank, because the tranny was too high, thats why i needed the lcg tvps

When did you buy the TVP's and where?.. they should not have been sold to you, unless you bought them a month ago or more.

Good catch on the tranny hitting the the big 250cc, that is probably true. Any other mid tank would be fine any of the tvps though 🙂

on the header tag is says ext lcg tvp savage

The problem is still the same on the xl tvp's. The trans case is to high to fit the plate right it can be done but the tank ends up higher than with the lcg tvp's. I will get you part numbers hopefully you can exchange them.

but i still can do the 250 tank with the flm tvps i recieved?

They put the wrong one on them. Happens sometimes. I just got two bulks that didn't come with all the parts. Mistakes happen. Give them a call Gina is very nice and should be able to help you out. Only down side is now you have to wait even longer to get the build going

ctd is right these are the xl tvps that have a bunch of issues with them it would be easier to show you if some one ( ahem the guy i am quoteing ) wouldnt have takin down a very nice thread with lots of explanitory pictures . there are alignment issues with these tvps, flm is fixing up ctd I'm sure they will fix you up as well

They are getting me new XL length to test fit... I guarantee you though if you email them, they will send you the right ones (the ones you wanted anyway) and a return envelope to send the ones you got back. They are real cool over there!

Oh yeah, sorry bout the thread, D'oh!

they have the same problem that ctd had, they don't clear the brake post or the bottom of the tranny, but both are easy fixes, i wanted to do the 250cc tank mod, but pope doesnt think it will fit, so i may end up doing a smaller tank or maybe just send these back

Those are definitely not stock XL tvps... I don't know what those are? They are longer than stock reguloar length, but doesn't look like they are quite as long as ext length and definitely not as long as stock XL length.

I tlooks like a slightly longer than stock version based off of the original non "X" type tvps?

You'd know if you had the FLM lcg ext ones... they are completly flat along the bottom, that is how low they are.

lol, what the heck is going on here, I'm just gonna make things simple and use them, ive been in the hobby for over 15 years, i think i can do something with them

I wouldn't worry about it man. I am hoping they get me something this week, so I can use it this upcoming weekend... I am sure they will either send you the ext lcg's or the new working version of the XL's.

When I noticed the problems, I could have fixed them myself too, but then again if I am going to go through that much trouble then I'd rather draw my own and send the CAD file to my machine shop back in IL 🙂

Oh yeah, where did you get those other tvps from anyway? They didn't really come stock on an XL, there's no way right?

so, i finally got a little time in the shop, built the rear end, minus the shocks
will start the front end today and work on getting the tranny mounted
i ordered a FLM steering brace, motor mount plate, and some servo mounts
also ordered up a hitec 7955tg servo
I'm getting excited again, will post some pics tonight!

i thought everyone might like this, i pulled the rear hubs out of the hpi rsc kit and was instantly impressed, these things are stout!, so i put it next to the integy toeless rear hubs i have on my other savage, i think its obvious which is better.....
