my savage 25 rtr has been sitting for a year. the last time it ran my cuz used it and he left fuel through it and restore it as is. i was wondering if i should take the block apart and clean it out. also can you rebrake in an engine because it wasn't done properly.

thanks

First wanted to welcome you to the forum. Nice to have you here. As for taking the mill apart if the gas wasn't gummy yet just drain it don't take mill apart n here enless carbs clogged once you run new fuel through it it should clean it out and run fine. And as for re breaking the engine in I don't think you can. Only can take it easy on it for a few tanks maybe to get the piston and sleeve nice and glazed but idk for sure.

ok that sounds alright I'm a noob when it comes to tunning still. seen lots of threads on it thou so i should be alright. i have backyard basher thats 3 years old. its 20% nitro and 15% oil. does it go bad or safe to use because i have three gallons of it : ).

thanks for the welcome!

Holy schmoly. 3years old? If get a gallon of new fuel I don't know how long its good for. Never last me that long lol but 3 years sounds to long. Get a nice brand of 20 %. Stay away from traxxas top fuel. To oily imo. Get some new glow plugs to. And post some pictures of your truck we all are picture hounds here. Good luck.

I recently picked up a savage 25 from a buddy that had sat for a year or so! This truck was dirty, I took the tank off and cleaned the outside in the kitchen sink and took a little nitro fuel added to the tank and flushed all the old, gummy mess out with the old fuel lines still attached, then replaced all the fuel lines and put it back on the truck. A few cranks with the roto and she fired right up. Ran 1 full tank then the oneway in the roto start went out.
$15 bucks later shes running again. Try the easy stuff first before you tear it apart! Just thought I would give my .02! good luck

7 tanks in and I'm still using the same glow plug!!!:FarleyParty:

yah i moved away and recently came home. the nearest hobby shop is 7 hours away so i stocked up when i bought the truck. i just took it out of storage and I'm going to see if i can order some glow plugs and fuel lines. the truck is bone stock and when it did run it was a blast even thou it was slightly out of tune. id go WOT and would bog and shut off. i also need to convert the radio to a battery pack because its to pricey to rock AA's all the time.
