safe way of removing chrome off wheels

Hey guys! i'm new to the rc scene and have a set of 40 series cheyeannes and the chrome is peeling off,does anybody know of a safe and simple way of removing the chrome off,so i can dye these rims? or does anybody send me a link on where i can get raw cheyannes. thanks from the 808 staterockout

Boil them. Big pot of water, 45 min. all gone.
I found this out boiling the rubber of a set of wheels. The tire fell right off, so did the chrome.

I never tried the boiling thing. That sounds interesting. Simple Green and Acetone will get it off. Soak and scrub. Not an easy feat. Chrome is in two layers. The outside(chrome) looking layer comes off easy. The inner (clear gloss) layer is much tougher and will need some scrubbing. The wheel should look flat cream colored when done.
