I have a picco p3 .26, do I need to us the restrictor insert or do I leave it out?
Also, what do the restrictor inserts do? Thanks for helping a newb out.

Yes you should use it. For racing you can use smaller ones to tame the engine down or conserve on fuel, for normal running in general it helps create the a nice smooth flow for the air to pass through to the spray bar helping to atomize the fuel better for a better burn. Use the biggest one you have for bashing and messing around.

Thanks for the fast reply. Will I have to retune with putting it in? I spent the last few days braking in the motor and tuning without it in. Do you know what size came with this motor? The motor is brand new and I got it from my boss and have no directions with it. The motor is about 5 years old but was new in the box.

It probably came with an 8mm insert, you can measure the inside diameter of the insert to find out. You can drill it out to 8.5-9mm for a little extra punch if you have the tools, just maintain the current shape. It may require a slight adjustment on the tune but it should be pretty close. You might want to seal the carb between the aluminum cap (where the HSN threads in) and the composite body, they can leak at that joint and cause tuning issues, look at #2 in the link and it will show you where.

Thanks for the info. I have sealed everything on the carb except that aluminum cap(#2 in the link). Does the cap come off so I can seal it. if so how do I get it off?

No it doesn't come apart, just run a bead on surface making sure you contact both sides and your good to go.
