Hey, I was wondering how big of an engine can you make to run on nitro. My father in law has a two stroke funny bike based on a Kawi 750 triple that runs mid to high 7's in the quarter. He was visiting today and I was showing him the Savage and he was impressed by the motor and the power it puts out for such a small displacement. He wanted me to ask if anyone knew what it would take to design an engine that was multiple cylinders and big enough to power a bike that had the HP ratio of these smaller engines, and if it were even possible. I think he said his bike runs nitro methane mixed in the methanol already and he has nitrous oxide too but he was wondering if some of the technology in these RC motors was applicable to bigger motors to get higher HP per liter.

I can tell you the bigger you go the more mass you have and the lower the rpms you can turn. I have seen a few concept rotory motors for bikes that may work for him but it sounds like he is pushing the max already. sounds like a top fuel bike to me already.

The only feasible way of doing it would be to find a 750+ two stroke, maybe from a sled. I know they used to put two strokes in some of the crotch rockets and they were nuts but unless he has HUGE pockets lol, that's about the simplest way to get the power.

He has a 750 triple 2-stroke Kawi engine now. He was wondering if there would be a way to make something that would get higher HP to weight ratio than a traditional engine taking concepts from these smaller engines. I kind of already told him that I didn't think it was that feasable but he is a gear head and actually does have deep pockets so he is always looking for something new to build. He also has a four stroke top fuel type bike with a suzuki engine bored and stroked to almost 1500cc and it's turbocharged. I don't know if he runs nos on that one but it is killer. Completely custom. Seems like he's always building something. He just finished a pro street ranchero but I haven't seen it. Just got an Arlen Ness bike too, super nice. I think he said it was a low-boy or something like that.

I told him that these RC mills get all their power from the high revs and that a bigger mill just wouldn't be able to spin as quickly or as high. But he wanted me to ask anyway LOL. If you want to PM me your phone number Robin I can have him call you and talk to you about it. He wanted to actually talk to someone himself. If you don't want to do that I can get his number to you also but I don't have it right now.

I totally missed the two stroke bit in your first post lol, wow that thing must haul. I'm sure there are a few things that could be done, I'll send you a pm.
