hey guys, this is a question for the computer savy amongst us.... can a second computer screen be added to any computer? & if so, how do i do it? i would imagine i need a second video card.
.
i have a Dell Vostro 200 (about a year old, maybe less) & it runs on Windows xp..hammer time:frustrated:

can u tell me what model of the videocard you have?

recent ones have 2 DVI outputs, you hook 2 screens and then open the display setting of your windows,

its recommended u use screens from the same type or resolution

Yes you can do it but like bin_dubai said, it is best to have the same size and resolutions, ect IMO. Also the newer video cards have the two outputs for 2 monitors.

I use dual at work all the time between laptop and monitor. Dual video card and software for it is the easiest.

make sure you gots enough resorsorces and lol my has bulit in dual screen option on my latop ahhh the luxary of 26inchs

if you have an older computer say a p4 that supports AGP cards you can just get a gt7600. i will cost you about 100 bucks off the bay, its decent for some gaming like cs and has a vga out and a dvi out, it comes with the dvi to vga adapter in the box. then its just plug and play

thanks for the help guys..... i did a web search & tried to find out the vid card i have but due to my novice computer skills, i'd have a much easier time purchasing a dual vid card, cables & software.
.
this is for my computer at work so i wont be gaming on it... honestly, id like to keep my company software open on 1 screen & keep the shoutbox open in the other or be able to surf the web ..... i already have 2 very similar Dell flat screen monitors so i think i just need the card, cables & software...
.
again guys (as always), thank you for sharing your knowledge & willingness to help... hpisf rocks! rockout
