Hi i just bought a used xl 5.9 and would like it to go alittle faster. I have read the best bang for the buck is the picco. What am I gonna need for the swap?? I cant findany write up about doing it.

most nitro engines are the "standard" 21 size and will fit on the stock engine mount, so as was said all you have to do is swap them.....glad bank added some input, never even thought of mentioning those..

You will need a new smaller spur gear, bigger clutch bell, and pipe for the most part if you swap you flywheel over. Springs and clutch shoes most likely as well. the spur and cb you have will not be a match for the picco it will be next to underivable
 
i have a feeling that a picco with the right gearing would TROUNCE your present setup my man.

why smaller SG and bigger CB, is picco a low torque engine?
 
Smaller spur and larger CB will give more speed as its closer to 1:1. Bank stated this because this engine has lots of power. With the stock set up this thing would have to much low end and rev out very fast.

You can run the stock stuff until money is sufficient but you will soon see why he is talking about you changing gears.
