Hey guys, I'm a noob to nitro trucks so I'm not sure how bad heat will ruin the motor. ive recently gotten the xl and done a proper break in (9 tanks) before tuning and opening it up all the way. ive gotten to the point where the front pops up everytime i gun it. after about 20 mins of running, i check the temp and it reads 275, so i shut it off and let it cool off for a few hours. i start it up again with no problem, this time i richened up the hsn a quarter turn, but it doesnt have the lift when gunning it anymore. I'm using trinity monster hp. my question is, how can i tune it to where the front lifts on command but not overheat the engine. thanks, i appreciate any advice.

275 is not outrageous for that motor, I wouldn't venture too much higher than that. Don't be a slave to the temp gun, tune to performance. Look for a good smoke trail at full throttle and you'll be ok. Learn the "spit" test, get a good glob of spit on your finger and put it on the head. If it just sits there you can go a little leaner, if it sizzles off slowly you're perfect, and if it instantly evaporates you're way too hot. Keep having fun and pulling wheelies.

i was told not to really mess with the low of mid needles, should i tweak those needles also? i do still get alot of smoke for running it at 275, but i didnt want to risk it. thanks for the advice savageman46 n sunkenmetal
