Apogies if this in the wrong section. As some people know I got given a savage, I bought a new bearing and broke it on the second day. I had found something on the web that you do away with the one way bearing completely but I can't find the thread again. Do any you nice people know anything about it and is it as worth while mod?

Cheers

I'm not sure but Ive had problems with owb's in the past. My solution was to put a small o-ring between the motor and bearing to help keep the oil from reaching the bearing. Its a little tight but I found a perfect o-ring at my local auto parts store. I covered it in associated green slime and it works like a charm. As a bonus it helps make the bearing run true to the shaft...
Btw...how did you break your owb?

Oh cool, cheers for that info. Ill have a look for an o'ring to suit.

God knows it was brand new got the motor running a fair few times, came the next and bang didn't want to know. I tried drilling the bearing to thread it but there was no chance its solid and the drill bit doesn't touch it. I've bought a new bearing and I've finally been able to get it up and running now 🙂
