Hey guys,

This is my first time with a one-piece pipe, and was wondering if I did this right. The pipe is a 086, and the header is a Vantage header for the Savage. I'm not sure if they make a special gasket that goes between the header and the pipe, but I used a .21+ exhaust gasket. Can anyone verify that this will work? Thanks!

That "looks" ok from the pic .

as long as the header is snug and has no leaks, your good

Test it blow in one end plug the nipple and oulet

Oh okay. Thanks! It took some time to get the header on without the gasket getting pushed in, but I finally got it. It does feel smooth. I will test it out now.

Just in case, does anybody know where I can buy the special gasket that goes between? I checked the LHS a few days ago and didn't find any.

I'm probably using the right thing without knowing it, but I'm talking about this piece here:

I always thought there was a special type of silicone gasket that goes there. The gasket currently inbetween there is this one: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDLJ1 the one that usually goes between the engine and the header.

Edit:
Thanks BigDan. So I guess I am using the correct thing after all hahah. I'm gonna go ahead and test that it's all fit.

You are using the correct style gasket. I can't believe that the purple HPI gasket will leak as it's one of the largest(Thickest) gaskets I have seen.

OFNA's brownish orange one is a lil thinner but if you have a full seal that one is fine. you will find that gasket wont blow. the pipe to mill is where you will find yourself replacing the gasket more often
