Hello guys I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a the new version novarossi truly 28-8ps to replace my k.59 ,only trouble is only place i can find one is in the states , any idea how much import duty to the uk i would have to pay ?
And is this really as good a replacement engine as everyone makes out ?
Thanks Garry.

Had the LRP, Sent it back to model sport U.K. because it was an absolute pig to start and tune, Although the 5.9 has a terrible reputation at least it would start and be tuned , Obviously the weak part of the engine is that horrible one-way bearing that you can’t get hold of .
i’m still considering my options I might just sell the car as it is pretty much more or less a brand-new car .

I had a lrp, wasn't happy with it either. Nothing but problems for me. A lot of other people love it. I sold mine and purchased a navarossie .28 plus seven and it is a dream. Major power, easy tune!

I have a Novarossi Rex legend 28 in my savage now and I love it. I suck when it comes to tuning but even I was able to get it running good. Takes me a bit of priming but I think its only because I have real long lines. I got the engine as a roto start but changed it to pull start. I also got the piston coated. With the gearing I have going she has a lot of top end speed.

You pay vat on total declared and admin fee of £8 i think, just look up online when you have a total. Never had any issues with LRP.

Calico coatings. I took me a long while to find anyone that will do the job on such a small piston. Prep and coat top with CT-2 , coat skirt with CT-3. They charge 45 and change it will cost a little more with shipping. You have to send it then pay to get it back. After I put a shim on the head and increased the fuel to 30%. Hope this brings my joy to your savage Imp

I really don't understand why people are comparing LRP with Nova these days. LRP is decent engine if your budget is limited to 120 dollars but that's about it folks!!!

I ran LRP 28 spec3's for quite a few years without too many issues. I'm not great at tuning either. The engines lasted way longer than the cheaper engines I had previously. I've never actually wore an LRP out. I have worn out SH 28's, XTM 24.7's, OS21RG's, TRX 2.5 and 3.3's. None of which are "top tier" engines.

The longest running LRP I had was a 28 S3 that I know I put 6+ gallons through in my aftershock when I had it. Ended up selling the truck with the engine and the new owner got at least a couple more years out of it before we lost touch.
