Its been a while since i bought my savage. (abt a year&half) It is my first Nitro RC. I couldnt even start up the engine for a long time (moving). Now i wanted to get into it and started reading the forums again. Its been a long time and i don't actually remember if i did the break-in or not. I know its a big mistake not to do it, but what if i haven't? It was running fine when i was playing around with it (except some spur gears destructions but i fixed it)

What happens when break-in is not properly done?
Is there anything that can be done to make for the lack of break-in later on in the engines lifetime. If there is how?
If there is nothing how bad is it?

Thank you

if you didnt do the break in then you might have ruined the motor stressed the conrod and lost a lot of pinch which you could get a new piston and sleeve with conrod and start all over and that would be your best bet.

I m sorry to ask this but some guys are saying that a motor has a short life why burn away 3-6 tanks breakin now these are racers are racing motors different from what we use

A well run in motor and also well tuned can give you many gallons of good performance. A high end motor will do the same with more power. treat them wrong and they go fast. treat them right and I have heard of the axial .28 lasting 13 gallons+ (low dollar) don't break them in right they can fail in the first gallon.

Oregon mud if you see this chime in with the final # of nitro that 28 gave you (Thanks in advance Jeremy)..

My picco I ran in for a gallon... not tanks!

I took most of the car apart last night.
Today i am planning on taking apart the engine. Lets see if anything is wrong

I ran about close to 2 gallons with this car and nothing happened yet. However i can not really understand if the performance is good or not because this is my first savage and i never really got to compare it with other people.

what mill we talkin about here bro? seems like youve been running it & after it sat for a year & all that, id run it & not worry about it. if it breaks then hook up with another mill & now you know more about how to break it in (or where to get help if your not sure) 😛eace:

Its a totally stock savage. It was 4.1 big block as far as i remember.
I haven't run it after it sat for a long time. I put it to general maintenance and cleaning for now. Then i plan to run it. It would take a week or two probably before i get to try running it again.

I ll also try to figure out if something happened to the mill.

Thanks for the help.

That's what i did with my k4.6 HO i forgot the rest of the break after 5th tank and i went out one day and ran the heck out of it, maybe temps were 234F and i cracked my freaking piston =( don't know how but i did !

I'm still running it now, runs fine, but later on ill buy new piston & sleeve !
